How do we start a revolution?
0 2012-11-07 by thehague67
We obviously know that our country is fucked and ran by a bunch of rich faggots. Our two party system is the biggest joke in the world and half our population stands by idly and bickers about Obama and Romney. I'm sick of just reading about how screwed up everything is, I'm ready to do something about it. What do we do? How do we give this country back to its people? It's obviously not gonna start at the ballot.

It's still not time. We need more organization and they need a lot more corrupt crazy irrefutable evidence to convince them to join.

You are not currently in any tactical position to be staging a coup. Stay in your homes.

There is no avoiding war, it can only be postponed to the advantage of your enemy.

Not a revolution. A rebellion. Full on. We need more bad ass rebels. People who speak the truth and aren't afraid of standing out from the herd. Who don't fear death and imprisonment.
The only corner of America or the earth or the universe at large that you can really change is you. And revolution in government is just rearranging the already corrupt system. We need to destroy the old system and start something completely new.
Revolutionize your way of thinking. Be the rebellion. Be the change you wish to see.

Probably by not acting like you act is a big start.
With that aside; we need a beginning, middle, and end plan. We can't just revolt without direction or we could end up in a situation much worse than what we're in now.

ok, good. You're in charge of sketching an outline. Get back to me in 20

Or not.
I'm barely an American citizen, I live in a pretty awesome part of the country, and I won't be here much longer.
I have no interest what-so-ever, sorry.

Just to clarify, what is the general end result we desire from a revolution, and who are we revolting against exactly?
1 [deleted] 2012-11-07
I think the revolution is already happening. There are parts of Detroit and Chicago that the police wont even go into, because they'll get fucked up by the gangs. As the economy continues to implode, more and more gangs will be taking over. This will reach critical mass once the rednecks start doing it, instead of just the inner-city types.
If thats not a revolution, I dont know what is.

Tell that to the Zetas cartel which basically rules large portions of Mexico.
1 [deleted] 2012-11-07
Yep, but the problem is with gang situations like that, it's far from helpful.
Gangs also kill each other, so A is mad at B, B is mad at A, but A is also mad at C, and D, whom are both mad at A, and B, and each other.
And so on.

Be visual. Go to bars and public places. Talk to people. Be understanding and persuasive. Spread information.
Vermont recently had IIRC 12% of the population vote for secession.
The New Hampshire liberty party has self-determination as a main plank of their policy. It's a start and a banner to rally around. Because there is strength in numbers, and knowledge in communication.

It should start with people reading , rendering them able to give decent arguments :

I really dont think we can. Even if we can we would get shut down. People have tried, look at anonymous, the media would talk about it and the government would most likely try to stop an uprising
0 VanillaPudding 2012-11-07
It seems like the govt. has been preparing for mass descent. It is as if they expect it... terrorism is loosely defined and those who try to start a revolution such as your discussing (or trying to) can be disappeared with no charges or trial. I would caution you to tread carefully in the waters you have wadded into.

Thank you teacher for your meaningful contribution to the topic... seriously why would you bother correcting 3 words i did not spell correctly and contribute nothing?

My point is the fact that you just swept through here being anal and did not contribute to the conversation. Your self-righteousness is all you contributed and it is not appreciated.

Since you did nothing but point out my spelling errors and made no contribution to the topic... yes I do think you are being self-righteous.
So, you can't openly agree with me and actually add content that is relevant to the topic because you fear that others would not take you seriously after you agree with someone that incorrectly spelled 3 words on an internet forum. Yikes... I'm simply done with you. You are the one and only person to make my ignore list... congratulations.
3 [deleted] 2012-11-07
You know you could just say thanks and just remember the tips and move on?
He's not discrediting you, he's not insulting you, he's not doing anything but pointing out some spelling errors.
People are way too stingy with this shit on the internet, who cares if someone points out an error, just say thanks and move on.
1 music_user 2012-11-07
You are also contributing nothing seeing as you've been discussing your own spelling for the last few comments.
-1 VanillaPudding 2012-11-07
I agree and it is why I stopped.
2 [deleted] 2012-11-07
Wadding me was buging me a bit to.

*too
See, I can be an anal person that does not contribute as well.

It has to start at the ballot or we're doomed to fail. Hate to say it but it's true. We can start today by promoting 3rd party candidates and non-mainstream political movements NOW even though the presidential election isn't til 2016. Any sort of revolution will be marginalized and doomed to fail. The political system is broken partly because of the conglomeration of media and apathy of citizens, but I do not believe it is irreparably so.
1 dontisntcant 2012-11-07
Why don't you believe it is irreparable?
There's no evidence to show actual change can happen. It's simply not allowed.
The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house.
Don't be blinded by the light of hope.
1 CollectCallFrom 2012-11-07
It isn't the master's house it's our house. The current masters may ignore the constitution but it is still the law of the land. Awareness, education, and advocacy are our only hope. Fighting the system will only result in avoidable causalities and failure
1 dontisntcant 2012-11-07
You're a skilled speaker. Tell people what they want to hear, focus on the good, and avoid the bad parts. That's what got us into this mess.
A nice sentiment, but rights are only as good as your ability to use them.
And defending yourself? You're shilling the agenda hard.
Answer the question you were asked, instead of puffing empty platitudes.
-1 CollectCallFrom 2012-11-07
I don't think it is irreparable because I have no evidence to the contrary. We need to investigate 9/11, expose the wall street elite in the Obama administration (in every administration) and maybe officially reopen the Kennedy assassination to prove how far back this evil goes. All of these things can conceivably done without "revolution" as unlikely as it seems
1 dontisntcant 2012-11-07
How do those things happen? The government doesn't listen to the people, the tail wags the dog.
Looking at citizens united, patriot act, media consolidation, and the two ruling parties that support all these actions HOW will it change?
-1 CollectCallFrom 2012-11-07
3rd party, educating the masses, civil disobedience
1 dontisntcant 2012-11-07
3rd party won't work. Duverger's Law clearly shows how the first past the post voting system operates.
Combine this with the nonsense at both the RNC AND DNC and you see these parties work together to maintain strict control of what issues are talked about.
Educate the masses, but understand the cognitive dissonance you are causing. Is it easier to attack your credibility or to believe most of what you know to be lies?
For many people, it's simply beyond their understanding.
Civil disobedience makes you a target and still relies on the sleeping majority to risk the lie of stability for the chance of a better life. People would rather be comfortable than informed.
Most people have no attention span or ability to relate to the actual reality around them, and instead live in a hybrid of reality and their fantasy worlds.
Why are you so dedicated to a system that has shown obviously authoritarian attitudes and fascist actions?
If the right to rule comes from the consent of the governed, then the only way is to NOT CONSENT. Wake up and see the government is just another cartel fleecing their tax cattle.
Self defense is no offense.

Reasonable discussion by intelligent people?
Certainly not what you offer.
Though to be fair, it's the first time I've seen it used here today, I don't think it goes hand in hand.
