Where are all the 93,630 Users?

37  2012-11-26 by The_mango_pigeon

Since I have joined this lovely place I have barely seen comments go up to 1000's and upvotes are used sparingly, So where the heck are the other 90,000?

Being mostly a lurker myself, I think a lot of people expect good content without actually having to do anything. This should definitely be a more popular sub.

Who are you kidding? This sub has already been invaded and neutered.

Onward, Downvote Brigade and stuff.

Right now we're in the rather unique position of being able to post comments that defy the common social taboos.

And yet, if you comment a disagreement or counter-argument to the post you get downvoted and called a shill.

I'm living proof of this.

Its sad, really. For a group that strives to question authority, it fails to ever question the articles that support its own bias.

r/politics is a democratic party circle jerk.

this subreddit is already dogshit

Expecting good content in a managed community is a exercise in futility.

It's only 93k people. Most of which are probably casual reddit users. Quite a few are probably sock puppets. Right now, in the sidebar, it say "261 users here now".

Believe it or not, r/conspiracy is irrelevant.

Yes there are some interesting posts from time to time but your average citizen has been trained to believe "It's just not that bad".

Right now, they're sitting in front of their Jew-infested televisions that tell them everything is under control. Just keep going to work and buying shit you don't want or need and everything will be okay. "Don't forget to enter the lotto, it's up to 450 bajillion dollars", said Wolf Blitzer.

FTFY

Jew-infested morally bankrupt, greedy capitalist infested televisions

Sigh. It's this sort of idiotic anti-Semitism that gets this sub-Reddit disregarded. The tv is controlled by corporations not "the jews" as if the entire religion was one giant blob. Now if you want to talk Zionist corporate control I am on board.

p.s. Zionism != all the jews

I'm subscribed to tons of subreddits that I rarely look at and never post in. Add in all the people with multiple accounts, people who are not active redditors any more, etc., and you'll have a fair number.

This is the correct answer. It's the same for every subreddit over a certain size. The number of subscribers is does not in any way reflect the actual active participants.

All larger subreddits are this way. Maybe 5% of the subscribers are active.

I'm here, i don't post a lot but I do vote a lot

I love this subreddit, come here everyday, but I have no idea where to go to find the stories that I think are worthy to post here.

It's a natural phenomenon known as the "90/9/1 rule of the Internet."

90% of the Internets users are merely spectators, contributing no novel memes.

9% alter or edit already existing memes.

1% actively produce entirely new memes.

This also explains how relatively small groups (such as the JIDF) can be effective.

I'm subbed to a few other sub-reddits around the 90k mark and it's about the same levels of activity.

Hi!

lurks back into the deeper recesses.

Hi

Hey little guy

I'm still here, just lurking around..

I rarely upvote or comment anything, tbh

I've been here a year and I don't think that I have ever posted, just like to read.

Most of the content in this subreddit really grasps for straws, are commonly known or are easily debunked with a google search. You do find occasional gems however which is why I am subscribed

This comment does not confirm nor deny my presence on this forum.

Its just the number of subscribers as a whole. /r/funny has like 2 million but the upvote count for a post never really goes above 4500.

I'm subscribed. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to dig about online like I used to. I primarily find my news here, then distribute.

I hate the trolls and douchebags so I rarely post as to not get flamed and in a conflict

Well, AskReddit has 2 million members. Do you regularly see comments in the milliions?

User reporting for dootie.

Shills, shills everywhere

any beer left in the fridge?

ASk Mod "Mr. Dong" to repost his chart, detailing the disordinate influx of subscribers that began roughly six months ago.

I also find it strange that the top post is almost always a meme(read: propaganda) and almost always has a disproportionate amount of upvotes, when compared to the rest.

Certain groups are using their subscritions here to monitor this sub and upvote/downvote content, for now. If even a fraction of these seemingly dormant subs began actively posting, they could take over this sub in a matter of hours.

80/20 rule.

Dare I say, it's a conspiracy?!

Making fun of posts without commenting.

always here, always lurking, sometimes posting, often voting, occasionally commenting - only to usually then get chastised verbally by the hive mind for not knowing the intricacies of every conspiracy theory out there. or called a shill. then itll take me a couple weeks to try again. rinse, repeat

There are so many people who subscribe to lurk, those who rarely post, and those who are just there to be entertained/make fun of us.

The few hundred different posters that are online at all times are the bulk of the threads.

Lurking in total paranoia.

You mean the disinfo agents?

I'd say 91,000 are shills, secondary accounts, trolls, and propagandists.

I often forward stories I find here to friends and family, but almost never post anything here myself, athough I come here at least twice a day to read. I have learned so much and greatly value the stories posted here.

just rejoined

too far down the rabbit hole myself and too lazy to try and post what I've decided is truth. Perhaps I should do a type up and post sources for what I believe is going on and what the short term future holds... but would anyone even read it?

I don't believe the other 90000 exists. Cause it's a conspiracy. I mean look as there are 9000SINS! ;)

We're waiting. In the shadows.

Here.

I'm here, bro. I'm always here.

There is always something funny in conspiray

Mostly shills, sockpuppets, and dead accounts.
