During the government shutdown, /r/conspiracy should watch and see which common posters stop posting. Assuming, of course, that online propaganda corps are deemed non-essential government services.

They're probably so patriotic that they'd continue shilling pro bono.

And AIPAC and all them are unaffected. JIDF is out in full force on the inturwebz.

Yep, I've had all kinds of unsolicited insults hurled at me today on here. They've fielded the shit cannon today, and they're looking for anything that sticks. The smell of desperation is heavy and cloying, like the inside of a prom night limo.

There is nothing patriotic about what they are doing, quite the opposite.

You guys do realize that calling someone a shill is just another way of ignoring and dismissing ideas and viewpoints that you don't approve of, right?
Calling someone a shill is the same as calling someone a conspiracy nutjob. It's labeling them, and casting them aside without giving any thought to what they have to say based on preconceived, and wrong, notions.
I thought you brave warriors for truth were supposed to be better than that...

False dichotomy.

What if that person says something like "We need free the shit out of Syria and Iran like we did in Iraq and Afghanistan," are we allowed to call them a shill?
That's what debating is all about. Some people's view points suck. Others suck so bad that they seem like they are either trolling, or posted by shills.
7 tiyx 2013-10-01
Just because someone may say such a thing does not mean that opinion was bought and paid for by the government.
-5 [deleted] 2013-10-01
Maybe not but I don't see a problem with calling them one.
6 roberto32 2013-10-01
it is an ad hominem attack, you's be focusing your argument against the person instead of their statement.

Reddit likes to pretend this is debate club. I view it as a conversation. A lot of people on here need to A. stop being such sensitive pussies, and B. stop being so stupid and ignorant.
3 roberto32 2013-10-01
I'm just pointing out that there is a logical flaw in your argument. /r/conspiracy is hardly in a position to say that it is not full of people who like to whine as well as ignorant people. If one looks at the topic at hand in this post, one would notice that some people here believe most of reddit is a propaganda machine run by the government, not exactly the pinnacle of enlightened thought
-1 [deleted] 2013-10-01
And I just think it's naive to believe there aren't real shills on here.
1 roberto32 2013-10-01
on reddit, really? if you look at /r/worldnews or /r/politics or /r/news those shills must not be doing their jobs well, because there is quite a bit of anti government circlejerking. I think it is somewhat arrogant to believe that the democratically elected government you elected cares enough about what you talk about to try and manipulate the news on a large content aggregation site that takes measures to prevent spam and voter manipulation.
-2 tiyx 2013-10-01
That is like calling a raccoon a deer, we must learn to see the difference.
0 [deleted] 2013-10-01
No, its like seeing an animal in the woods, but can't fully see it, and calling it a deer.
-8 ronintetsuro 2013-10-01
Wow, you're right. I realize now that there's no such thing as a shill, all posted opinions are made objectively, and there's no profit whatsoever in doing otherwise!
Please, continue to sit in judgement of an entire group of people for the actions of a few! This is not at all hypocritical or steering the conversation towards deriding the validity of discussion of shills!
11 silverence 2013-10-01
I'm sorry, did I say shills didn't exist? No. I didn't. You don't have to link me to a page saying they do, I'm not criticizing you for saying they exist, I'm criticizing you for using the term as a blanket dismal for anyone who preaches moderation or rationality instead of jumping to your outrageous conclusions without any evidence. So good job making up a straw man to argue against there.
Oh, and I also appreciate how in your next paragraph that you agree with me about how it's a shitty thing to do. Sorry if you thought I was lumping you in with those who scream "SHILL!" as soon as they read something they disagree with. I can't imagine how anyone would think you were that kind of person, with you making up a straw man argument about how they exist and all when I never said otherwise.
Please explain how it's hypocritical. Also this phrase: "steering the conversation towards deriding the validity of discussion of shills!" is word salad. Meaningless. What, exactly, is wrong with "steering the conversation towards deriding the validity of discussion of shills?" You're damn right I'm deriding the validity of a discussion of shills. You all use the term way too much (You agreed to that, otherwise you wouldn't mind being "sat in judgment of.") You've made it into a way to dismiss people who you don't agree with without having to listen to them. The fact that you're sitting here talking about shills means you've made a witch hunt of them.
All this from the people who claim the exact things happen to them... If you can't see your hypocrisy, then you're blind to the point of irrelevance.
-4 ronintetsuro 2013-10-01
Again, it's not at all hypocritical to offer this as a blanket judgement of a group of people with wildly differing views, stances, and debate techniques, right? No, it's much easier to assume all /r/conspiracy contributors are of a hive mind, so that you can disparage them all in one fell swoop. Not unlike when some in the /r/conspiracy sub call anyone with an opinion that differs from theirs a shill.
I never said it wasn't a shitty thing to do. I did say it was a shitty thing to do that which you are accusing others of doing as a way of condemning others for doing it.
No. It's not. Actual shills, who do work very hard to steer discourse in this sub every day choose this vector all the time.
You're still doing exactly that which you claim to abhor others doing. Why?
6 silverence 2013-10-01
Again, so you agree its a shitty thing to do and that it happens. Yet you accuse me of saying everyone does it. Please point out where I said everyone does it. Also note I raised this point on a post doing the exact thing I'm talking about so it's fair to say that the intended audience of my comment are exactly the people I'm talking about. My comment was very specifically placed.
So you agree its shitty to do, that it happens but your argument is 'not everyone is doing it' except you're making that argument on a comment board doing exactly what I'm saying. And you can't even see that. Pathetic.
1 silverence 2013-10-01
Kinda just gave up, huh? People of integrity admit to their mistakes. Slimey, uneducated schmucks slink away silently.
-1 ronintetsuro 2013-10-01
And what kind of people prefer insults over discussion?
1 silverence 2013-10-01
The discussion ended. You walked away. I'm not preferring insults over discussion because there is no discussion. I'm besmirching your character because you've earned it.

shit... they probably have computer algorithms that make the posts. They already have computer programs that can 'write stories' ... wouldn't be hard to program them to write posts.

Oiy vey! No more shekels coming in! JIDF is not paying me! Dis is like a second Shoah!
4 [deleted] 2013-10-01
They'll still get paid.
This is like when they want a new levy for schools in your area and it gets voted down.
They stop the school buses, everyone else still gets paid.
3 TroyPDX 2013-10-01
Yeah, it's like when they shout down the White House tours and US military participation in air shows... neither of which make the slightest difference in the budget, but send a nice 'fuck you' message to constituents.
4 Frogtarius 2013-10-01
Maybe they are shutting down to prove they aren't needed.
3 GMOsInMyGelato 2013-10-01
Probably not official gov't payroll.
edit: the gov't isn't necessarily the enemy. Whomever infiltrated the gov't is.
8 freedom6 2013-10-01
If you use your elected seat as an auctioneer's table, then you are a guilty cunt.
3 Highguy4706 2013-10-01
Exactly.
0 Highguy4706 2013-10-01
Good to see there our others out there that see the tuth. To many people think the gov is to blame, I think if it was ran how it was meant to be we would be fine.
0 totally_jawsome 2013-10-01
They are just puppets for a great puppeteer. We don't get to see the real shit going down... just the after affects.
5 FuzzyLiftingDrink 2013-10-01
These are willing puppets who let themselves be used in order to get some crumbs from the table. Screw these traitors.
5 totally_jawsome 2013-10-01
They really are. Traitors is the best word for them.
1 Wilwheatonfan87 2013-10-01
People who have different opinions are now traitors and deserve to be shot? How antifascist of you!

gov is inherently evil. Thats why we have the constituion to limit what government cn and cant do.
not disagreeing with you, if we had the founding fathers in office and congress together, the people would love government. but yeah, gov is evil
3 [deleted] 2013-10-01
Go post some anti-semitic news on r/worldnews, the JIDF will be there in minutes...

The NSA is deemed essential, so we still get our paychecks for posting here.
2 [deleted] 2013-10-01
Everyone who disagrees with us actually doesn't, they are just being paid to disagree. That is some serious interesting "logic" :D
1 freedom6 2013-10-01
Ahhh!!!! Nice, we got a thinker here.
But seriously, you really think they consider us and our opinions a threat. They probably monitor these sights for comedic purposes solely.
We basically comprehend the ostensible 9/11 occurrence and we can't do Shit about the fact that our government murders our citizens whenever it can come up with a plan to make money off the deaths.
They aren't trying to hide this shit. They made sure they had all the power before we could tell they were taking any of it.
1 ronintetsuro 2013-10-01
If you think they have any power over you, then you've handed them victory.
1 freedom6 2013-10-01
And if you delude yourself about your prevalence you can reflect that most people are just walking around deluded?
1 ronintetsuro 2013-10-01
What others do on their walk shouldn't be your concern if it doesn't interfere with yours. I'm working on being better about that, myself.
1 NWO-SHILL 2013-10-01
How did you know?
1 4too 2013-10-01
If there were a shutdown in Israel, all the American television networks would go black.
1 signed7 2013-10-01
Though there will never be a shutdown in Israel unless the US bankrupts, since the US would just send "aid" to them before anything else, even themselves.
0 JohnReggae 2013-10-01
