I propose an ancient-history thread

I really enjoy reading about archeological findings that "make no sense" and I've come to find that this is the place where they see to congregate. Also, if you have something that does ""make sense" but fits the title, please share it as it's not likely to find a home anywhere else to my knowledge.
If there is a sub more suited toward this, please direct myself and other readers to it.

Totally agree, could use something more outside of the stereotyped labels that people currently use thanks to mainstream science. Could venture into that various topics of not just determining what caused it but just simply looking at what is regardless if we have an answer for it or not. I hope to also is oriented to include what is called Forbidden Acheology

/r/AncientAliens welcomes non alien historical mysteries as well

Is there a similar subreddit but devoted to the notion of not aliens, but a possible high-tech Holocene or pre-Holocene human society?

There's Puma Punku in Bolivia.
And check out this video from Peru.
Here's an excellent lecture on the subject of OOPArts.
There's so much stuff like this across the planet.

I have been waiting for Mr. Foerster to release his findings on the DNA analysis of the elongated skulls for over a year. My personal theory is the megaliths in Peru were built by the humans with the natural elongated skulls. Are they a different species of human? Why is it that there seems to be one guy (Brien Foerster) doing research on this? Check this out.

Here's a good read. All of this is pretty interesting, but I don't know if the information is all that reliable. Well, find out for yourselves, I guess. Just throwing it out there: http://home.hiwaay.net/~jalison/

If there were a subreddit dedicated to alternate or revised ancient history I would subscribe. I searched for Reddit subs exploring that and could find nothing.

Thanks. I've never seen that or posted there before but got the message "you are doing that too much. try again in 6 minutes." I waited patiently and finally submitted.

I got a response from /r/findareddit. They came up with /r/historicalwhatif. I also found on my own /r/althistory.

A lot of it is at the bottom of the ocean. The little that may be left.
We always seem to congregate near the oceans.
I thought I recall Ballard or someone like that did tour of the bottom of the Black Sea. Supposedly a lot of structures are on the bottom of the Black Sea. I never really heard or saw much after the one mention.
The Bimini road, or seawall. Whatever it is. I'm pretty sure its been determined that its man made. At least in some sections.
Here is my theory... During the ice ages the poles collect and retain a lot of the water. The sea level drops drastically. To avoid the cold people move towards the equator and lower elevations. When the ice age ends and the poles melt. The sea level rises again. Bye-bye everything that was beach front property. - Just a supposition, and not including asteroids, earthquakes or volcanoes.

We have about 400 feet over the last 18,000 years. I'm going to go out on limb and say it wasn't always a gradual change in sea level. 5 or 10 feet at a time is enough to wipe a lot of things out.

Sorry to hijack the thread. I'm interested in this topic. And, yes I think it should have its own sub.
Lastly, I don't think Dr. Robert Schoch's argument has been adequately rebuffed regarding the age of the Sphinx. I know its been attempted. -

It hasn't. In fact, his work is slowly being accepted.
If I remember correctly, Schoch himself used to be more skeptical about the degree of sophistication of the culture that created the Sphinx, but within the last few years he's been revising some his earlier skepticism and is more open to the possibility. I'll see if I can find where I read or heard that.

I remember a special on Nat Geo from the mid to late nineties on the Sphinx. I think Heston was the narrator. Before such beauties as American Blackout... They gave Schoch's work a good portrail and amount of time. The establishment ridiculed him. It was comical, but kind of felt bad for him. Someone with correct measurable observations has to endure so much ridicule before proved true.
As an aside, what happened with Egypt? It seems like starting during the 2000's the quality and caliber of information about antiquities was sub-par. Hawas?

I just found /r/althistory. Looks like most of the posts are about recent history though.
I also found /r/ancienthistory but have no idea how conducive they'd be towards alternate theories or anomalous archaeological finds. I think I'll go ask the mods.
