Before I ask, I don't want anybody to get offended I simply come in humble peace and I myself love to read articles from this sub. My question is if any of you watch football do any of you believe that NFL has a hidden agenda to as well?

NFL Now Exempt From Lawsuits Via The Department Of Homeland Security

It's tax exempt. It's a moneymaker/laundry for the wealthy.
Sports, according to my roommate is Sports. Gets really bent when I question the events surrounding the game.
Politics, money and power are Everything in the NFL or Football!
I'm dumbfounded to explain how the fuck they fill these stadiums, Globally for Soccer (Football!) or the NFL given the unemployment rates but by Hell, they do!
4 quietlyaccountedfor 2014-01-13
They also request taxpayers to pay for a private enterprise...not only that but a multimillion dollar entertainment enterprise.

Can you elaborate more about the stadiums? I see your point on how but it's probably just so simple as here's beer, here are girls to look at, tickets prices vary for the high, middle, poor class etc.

If you have rampant poverty surrounding a venue American or UK, how the hell do they fill the stadiums?
I've no earthly idea!
A post about human trafficking, drugs and filling the seats for the Super Bowl are mind boggling!

A city like Detroit who are bankrupt or going to be. This is why I love this sub gets me thinking.

Detroit. My father helped build that. Then Houston, Dallas, Mississippi. Within an blink of an eye, he was packing our scrawny white asses up and he headed to the Tundra!
We're designed to persevere! Trust that if nothing else!
My father was a good and just man. Hardworking, loved his kids. Not one racist bone in his body. He watched this Republic turn to shit as Vietnam brewed and he watched the tide turn on a thin dime.
You don't have to question 'why' conspiracy in big sports if you look at the money trail to your local, state and national level, it permeates.
I'm not a sports fan, nor do I watch TV but your query is spot on!

Thank you for your wisdom, like I stated in a previous comment I could've strung some thing's together about it but it was merely shaving points, rating orientated playoff scheme. I didn't think about the money side and now that you've mentioned how a stadium can be packed every Sunday put some new light to it as well. The other articles on here are good to as I was reading them.
I wanted to post this originally in NFL but thought against it due to the fact I will get ridiculed for it (knowing that I have questioned this before amongst the ppl I hang out with they were not amused about the idea of a conspiracy with the nfl, I usually get "Dude that's just stupid, you sound retarded it's just sports") so, I thought no one better than you guys and you delivered.

Never let your passion be swayed by goons!
There's so much out there for you and I'm damned glad you posted here!

Thank you! I'm glad too, I was nervous as first because this is my first post on here didn't want ppl to think I'm just some kid trying to stir up some trouble.

Glad to walk along with you!
There's plenty to be learned by your youth! Don't discount your unrest but be mindful, always, of your path!
I'm old and I'm damned angry but we all play a part in life. Don't be cruel. Don't be selfish. Don't be idle. Don't be racist.
Dream great dreams!

People drive through the surrounding ghetto to get to the shining venue. You can see that in Detroit: Downtown Detroit is pretty nice, statues, shiny buildings, nice places to eat, fancy hotels, a block in any direction outside that city center and its ghetto. So the stadiums are filled up with well-to-do out-of-towners.

How the NFL Fleeces Taxpayers

Thank you kind sir, I'm curious to the YouTube video as to why you showed me that one? Is it because the flew so low? How fast they were flying?
2 InternetPropagandist 2014-01-13
It was one of the first hits. If you read the second link, you'll get my point. Sports has nothing at all to do with nationalistic pride or a love for the military industrial complex. Those two things are installed in the minds of sports fans. Right at the peak of an amazing/emotional song, you typically see fireworks and jets flying over. This instills a deep emotional nationalistic pride simply because they are associated together through simultaneous timing.
3 w8a5r 2014-01-13
Ah I get it like Pavlo the dog in some way, interesting I did read the espn article I just couldn't find a tie to the jets (it's the noob in me). I like sports but I also think it's also another brainwash mechanism to avert eyes from the real issue at hand, I've could've come up with the basic stuff as far as the nfl or any sport to be part of the conspiracy. Just wanted to see if if there where other ways.
2 Co0ki3Munsta 2014-01-13
they must love us, they just flew three war machines over my head! but this is just them toying with us, i "BELIEVE" that if you want to see where the real funny stuff happens then look at fifa

The monetary policies are definitely corrupt. As with any major corporate institution they screw taxpayers.
Watching the NFL (as with any professional sport) is like social junk food. If you moderate and watch a game occasionally, then it can be a great way to unwind, enjoy the company of others, and some light entertainment. Consume too much and you can become healthy: living by your team winning or losing, losing track of what really matters in life, forgetting what your priorities should be. Unless you're employed by it, the outcome of the games really don't affect your life. Remember it is only a game.
3 w8a5r 2014-01-13
I like watching sports, it doesn't affect me in any other way besides just the unwinding part. So, in essence I can live my life without it, this was just brought on sheer curiosity and what could be, should be and for what I know, probably is a conspiracy.

The addictive behavior some seem to express when it comes to sports in my opinion comes from our inherent need to connect with our fellow man. It's like the social easy-button that virtually anyone can have access to if they really want it.
I often times find myself in awkward situations at work with all of my co-workers chanting religiously about different stats, teams, and coaches standing there with virtually nothing to add to the conversation. I'll even joke with them sometimes and simply yell out "SPORTS!" when their chanting ceases for a few moments.
It's really no different than celebrity drama/gossip, just more focused on the left brain (Stats, strategy, competition etc.) . It's much easier to control an entertained populace. Less focus on policy, more focus on this year's draft picks.
EDIT: Just Found This
2 ThinkFreeman 2014-01-13
If anything, I think the conspiracy is that this is the only way we’re supposedly allowed to connect. You can only discuss celebrity gossip and sports, no politics or issues that really impact our lives. Part of the justification is that it isn’t deemed polite to have heated arguments (ironic, because people resort to violence over sports all the time). However, we should be able to have informed discussions and debates about politics and learn to compromise. Unfortunately, most people don’t know how to do this, because their role models for discussing politics are the politicians that constantly sling poo at each other in a very uncivilized manner. Sports and other temporary outlets from the stress of everyday life aren't bad. If anything, it can be a healthy way to relax and bond. Using them to escape realty is bad.

|isn’t deemed polite to have heated arguments|
This is one thing I will never understand about our social norms. I can understand not wanting to "fight" over certain topics, but like you said, what's wrong with civilized discussions about important happenings in this world? It's almost as if when the subject for discussion is actually important, then it's all of a sudden rude to mention. Very ass backwards if you ask me.
| Sports and other temporary outlets from the stress of everyday life aren't bad|
Totally agree. I guess it's the seemingly religious frequency that irks me. Everything in moderation I guess.
2 ThinkFreeman 2014-01-13
It’s ass-backwards. People's priorities are just flipped upside-down. People are like, “you care about issues that affect your life? You’re weird. You care about stories that have no direct impact on your life? You’re totally normal.” Some people actually don’t think political issues affect their lives. However, you can easily point out that political policies directly affect their lives from the food they eat (e.g. GMO labeling) to the water they drink (e.g. water privatization) and the air they breathe (e.g. carbon tax). Part of the reason people can’t have normal discussions about politics is because a lot of people think this is a healthy debate: http://youtu.be/bijtBkKQwY8?t=2m33s

Oh man. That was cringe worthy.
In the words of Tyler the Creator, "Fuck Bill O' Reilly."

Bread, wine and circuses (sports). Distraction to keep the peasants busy while they focus on getting their way.
2 C_Hitchens_Ghost 2014-01-13
Of course. They are part of the collegiate scam, which is part of the HS education scam, which is part of the "Keep them focused on something else," conspiracy. All of that being part of the "Keep them as dumb as possible while still being able to complete an 1040 EZ form," conspiracy.

There was actually a great article by Paranoia Magazine about the NFL being corrupt from the very beginning (mafia/gambling enterprise) a few years ago (maybe even 8-9 years ago).
That's aside from all of the other things they've gotten themselves into since then. I wish I knew where it was, I'd post up a synopsis... it's been a while since I read it.
