PSA: Don't fall for it.

I admit Reddit is going to shit, but this is just another divide and conquer tactic to move the users to a more controlled environment, not less. We don't know who this guy is or what his intentions are. He's not even an active member of this sub, so why is he so concerned about censorship to warrant posting in this specific sub?

He's gathering info on all of you, such as what you think a "free" environment would be like so that a proper simulation can be made with the help of the members themselves.

If it never gets off the ground at least the intel he has on the consensus regarding censorship is pretty solid. Remember, JTRIG is intelligence. Trust no one.

Prior to his recent submission here where he commented 26 times, /u/ChristianBundy had posted a whopping total of 8 comments here.

So, this breakdown from reddit investigator has two ways to look at it.

First, the current breakdown of his reddit activity (minus anything 3 or below - which is an interesting suppliment to add, but not relevant to my main point here)

  • Psychonaut: 73
  • malefashionadvice: 44
  • conspiracy: 34
  • Drugs: 23
  • chicago: 19
  • funny: 11
  • web_design: 9
  • Futurology: 8
  • drunk: 7
  • malehairadvice: 7
  • outside: 6
  • Fitness: 6
  • webdev: 6
  • Christianity: 6
  • google: 6
  • sex: 5
  • programming: 5
  • AdviceAnimals: 4
  • minimalism: 4
  • javascript: 4

Now, if we remove his most recent 26 comments from his submission here, it would place his /r/conspiracy participation at around the same level as his /r/Futurology or /r/drunk activity, just below his nominal r/webdesign activity (9 comments).

He's gathering info on all of you, such as what you think a "free" environment would be like so that a proper simulation can be made with the help of the members themselves.

While I don't know precisely what he's doing, his activity on reddit doesn't seem to indicate he's a huge proponent of anti-censorship - or we'd see something besides Psychonaut, malefashionadvice, and Drugs in his most active subs.

Good analysis, PublicIntelAnalyst.

This is what people should be routinely doing here.

Today is the day that I became a conspiracy theory.

I posted here because /r/conspiracy is skeptical and critical and I thought it would be a great way to vet my idea – as well as the fact that this is where I first heard about how bad the manipulation of reddit really is.

I really don't blame any of you for distrusting me, so you're all more than welcome to ask me anything you'd like. Thanks!

Congrats on becoming a conspiracy theory!

I'm obviously still in a very early stage, but the ability to post anonymously would be great if I can make it work. Maybe a limit on the number of posts that an IP address can do within a time limit, but not saving the IP to the anonymous comment? I'm not sure, but I'd really like to be able to do that. Thanks for the suggestion!

I really want to give control to the users, so if this becomes successful I'll do everything I can to let people choose. Personally, I like having all of my comment history publicly available, but I understand that tons of people wouldn't want that.

Eventually I want to try to write a package system where people can write/hack/modify plugins and customize their experience, but that's way down the line.

Isn't Reddit open source?

Well, in all fairness, I've never been to /r/Psychonaut so I have no idea how much tyrannical censorship takes place in his favorite subreddit. There's a chance (albeit microscopically slim) that it could be the most heavily censored subreddit on the entire website, far and away more despotic than the default subs.

Yes, this was sarcasm.

Bro, r/Psychonaut is about those who like to go on mind-blowing acid trips. Not expecting much censorship there

When I joined it was for the enlighten part. I must have missed this description in the sidebar. Strange.

You forgot your /s

You can have mine though.

Sharing is caring

Great write-up! It's a little bit weird seeing a PSA about myself with my comment history, but I appreciate the work and thought. In case it's of any interest, here's my link and comment scores by subreddit – I don't think this is public, so I screenshotted it from my profile.

Let me know if you have any questions!

And he's unemployed and is somehow going to make money off of this new site. Any guesses on where the money will come from?

I just finished a large web development contract and have enough money to live for the next six months or so. I can either save it, spend it, or invest it in something I believe in. I'm choosing the latter.

Hey brother, I like the idea, inbox me if you need some conceptual design help, but either way I would do something like "first 4 of IP" for their actual posting ID, that way even if they spoof it and want to flood it'll show the IPs and they can get flagged.

But what happens after six months? You should have a long-term plan so you can secure funding from private investors.

Fuck private investors. Unless they are also in it for the cause. Not for financial returns, though the returns could potentially be quite plentiful.

planning to != going to

Don't vote, or comment either, as all is aggregated.

Just because you're paranoid...

Trust no one, not even you! If you don't want to go there then don't. you sound like a fucking mod.

I hope you realize that someone can make this post about you too.

I'm shamelessly stealing this from a text my friend sent me about the fact that there's a conspiracy theory based on me:

open source project + normal post history + asking for input != evil overlord

Shut up, man. Tired of you nuts trying to break up the community. /r/conspiratard has been waging a war against this guy's idea. Go check it out, they posted on it. I don't think they like it.

Its hard to talk about conspiracy on conspiracy. I welcome you to do it here instead: www.reddit.com/r/redditlies

This is very troubling. I feel this sub is getting attacked by every side in every direction in every flavor.

Which is a sign we're on the right track

Sometimes you guys are really spot on; other times you're god damn nuts. I like this community a lot but damn man, this cracker barrel shit is ridiculous.

We don't know who this guy is or what his intentions are.

Actually, we do. At the bottom of the README is a link to his Twitter profile.

this is just another divide and conquer tactic ... he's not even an active member of this sub, so why is he so concerned about censorship to warrant posting in this specific sub?

Seems to me you're the one playing the divide-and-conquer card here, with the us vs them duality mindset.

He's gathering info on all of you, such as what you think a "free" environment would be like so that a proper simulation can be made with the help of the members themselves.

You do realize this is an open source project, you don't have to use the author's demo, you can download the code, inspect it, and run it yourself. Regardless... there's no project here yet, it's just boilerplate. Nothing to see here... So you literally are just making shit up. How 'bout at least wait until some code is released before you formulate an opinion.

Trust no one.

Including OP.

2 posts down from the Greenwald sticky and people still open themselves up to questionable people. This sub never learns.

The Greenwald money grab is stickied. This sub never learns.

I say he's witch! Let's burn him at the stake!! Who's with me here?

Yeah! I'll get the pitchfork!

Yay! A chance to sell my Pitchforks!!!

Happy day!

Wait, so now I have to stab myself with a pitchfork and be burned at the stake? I'm taking my ball and going home.

No! Wait come back!

I like your balls.

YOU ARE JUST THE GOVERNMENT TRYING TO MAKE US NOT FIND OUT THE TRUTH. nice try OP, or should I say OBAMA.

The makers of TPB should make the new reddit

I think some people are taking the Glenn Greenwald post basically exposing controlled opposition tactics and are either becoming paranoid or using it to have a laugh at the expense of paranoid Redditors. Any public forum can and eventually will be subject to some form of censorship, its just the nature of debate that is moderated by a lucky few. I agree its absolutely stupid to join a website with an obscure owner and an unknown track record. If there were government entities heavily censoring Reddit then the first post when you get to the subreddit wouldn't be how the government can destroy your reputation and basically your life at the tip of a hat.
