I've had that same thought. Here's the bread and circuses...what are we missing? First thought: Probably the whole militarization of the police thing that Ferguson exposed. Second thought: the American Isis member and related issues. Third swing for the fences tin foil hat conspiracy nut thought: kids in St. Louis area coming down with illness not usually appearing in United States a week after decommissioned military weapons rolled around town and a bunch of "tear gas" was sprayed around. NOTHING TO SEE HERE, FOLKS.
My mind has a innate block to this idea that the government would do this. But the revelation that British agents were changing online poll results and YouTube statistics makes me believe anything is possible.
Yeah but the rest of Reddit is really slow, I'm guessing that there's no conspiracy with Reddit being slow as it's a result of just how viral The Fappening is.
well another reason reddit might be slow is 60,000+ people have left burningman yesterday and today. that's a lot of redditors returning to the net. just saying. if i had spent a week+ plus in the desert i know what would be the first place i check to catch up on whats happening in the world.
They may use leaks like this to test how well they can track and plugp data leaks, I really like how everyone downloaded the images to hidden files and external HDs though xD
I have always gotten an error: 502 in this sub when i am using my phone. The first time i submit anything, be it a comment or a post, itll pop up. But the second time i hit it it always goes through.
Ok, so 500 errors usually mean the application that is being served, did not start up correctly. Like say, if the database, or communication with the database wasn't established during the application start up sequence. Or say, if there is a ripple start to a load balanced application and they didn't start in the right order. But that usually means the whole application is tits up, not just one subreddit. Does that mean that every subreddit is in effect, a separate application that links to each other for all of reddit? I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. That would mean separate application servers/nodes and potentially different databases.

Fappening appears to be deleted. All of my posts that were in there are no longer showing.

Anyone else think there's more to this story? Like either it was intentional or its used to distract from something?

It's back up now. Dude said release at like 1. Probably to much traffic.

they shut it down to stop the pics spreading, and possibly avoid a law suit.

I can see it just fine. Maybe it was getting overloaded.

More like there are more 17 year olds on this website than you'd like to think!

Yes, that was good, and it showed that imgur cannot be trusted.

So you are saying every subreddit has its own server/ vm ?
0 DukeLeto2 2014-09-01
I'm wondering if that is the case.

Annoying "theories" with no credence - the foundation of those sub reddit.

OK, its back up now, but still occasionally giving "we took too long to make this page for you"
Still... It was deleted for /r/all !
