Not sure who to tell this

I have insider information that a nuclear generating station located in Grundy Co, Illinois was hit directly by a Cat 2-3 tornado and is in a critical state. Absolutely everything about the situation is being kept classified, and employees are being sequestered for the time being.

Was it an engineer you heard say that? In nuke terminology, critical state means that reactor power is neither increasing nor decreasing. It isn't really used to describe reactor casualties.

Exactly.
You must wear two different shoes which make it so that your legs are not the same length.
You must also wear a hat and a large hood with a scarf or some cloth behind your head so as to obfuscate the size of your head.
You then have to be wearing a trench coat with your arms inside the coat so that you do not reveal their length, and then you must also pad the shoulders to different heights on each side.
That will make is so that they do not know who you are.
You could also wear a gorilla suit.
Either way, you will have to make sure that you were not recorded appearing that way from your point of origin, or else that may give you away.
If you want to be "stealth" in this day, it is a very hard feat to accomplish.
-5 quicklypiggly 2015-06-23
This might help you.
EDIT: Okay, you can downvote my comment. Regardless, users need to write legibly and paragraphs are a major part of that. Posts cannot merely be lists of sentences, and users can not be decried for expecting this of their community. If your phone is prohibiting you from crafting legible prose, maybe you shouldn't be attempting it on your phone.
8 dsprox 2015-06-23
The only thing I need to edit is "is" to "it".
A paragraph does NOT have to be more than one sentence.
I chose explicitly to describe how one must modify each individual aspect of the traits which they use to identify your physical person with separate one sentence paragraphs.
To mask your identity, you must disguise your gait, height, head shape, face, torso shape and size, and arm length. If you do not cover every aspect of what they analyze, and they use all those tools in analysis, then you will become identified.
I do not need to learn how to use paragraphs.
YOU need to learn online etiquette and how not to inappropriately chide at people while having absolutely nothing of substance or import to express.
Please realize who you are dealing with next time you attempt to act like a child, especially when I know who you are, and don't try and pretend like you don't know what that means.

Back in '94 I was in Vancouver when they had the first Stanley Cup riot. A private business owner donated his facial recognition software to the cops and it compiled shots of people from all the footage.
It is how I became #4! And all I did was kick a few tear gas canisters away from the crowd.
The software uses soft markers like clothing and then narrows down from there. It worked very well and this is how they made the suspect list. No one got charged. Even though I was easily identifiable not one person called in on me. They even made a kiosk and dragged it around to the malls to get suspects ratted on.
Point being...this ain't new, just improved.

I have to buy a card and then 'hook it up' online to get to use the phone..
2 LarryFrogs 2015-06-23
They where Verizon 4g phones for sale. They also had prepaid cards too. This was at middle of nowhere flea market tho. Guys been there forever. I don't know if I would trust the cards but you could always do it in front of him to check.
2 benwaaaaaaaah 2015-06-23
Yes, Circle K sells Tracfone
2 KnightBeforeTomorrow 2015-06-23
But he has to take the card, go online to get the time transferred to the phone and put in the code on the card and that is identifiable.at least by IP
At least that's what I understand, so that wouldn't be anonymous. Maybe use a library but that is just as much under surveillance.
3 benwaaaaaaaah 2015-06-23
You said it, public library.
1 toomuchpork 2015-06-23
Nope. Libraries (at least the ones I have used) require your card and therefore id. I would go to an Internet cafe. Make a new anonymous Hotmail account to sign it up then never access that account again.
2 benwaaaaaaaah 2015-06-23
That works as well. Most of the libraries where I live grant access to anyone who walks through the door. So can't count them out completely
2 toomuchpork 2015-06-23
Another no no in burner phones it to not carry it with your other phone and pull the battery when not in use. Do not sign on to Google in any way shape or form. "They" will link it to your ID-ed phone by location monitoring.

They shouldn't drive their own car obviously, but walking or biking is a bad idea as it keeps it too close to home. Best bet is to take a greyhound a few towns over. On the way back take a different route and make sure you aren't followed.

29 Ago_Solvo 2015-06-23
Looks like you have a 10 mile danger radius for a plume and 50 total. It's been a while but I was certified as a first responder for basically NBC attacks or incidents. This isn't like a nuclear bomb, so don't overreact about it, you can likely be within 10 miles when it does implode or whatever, it shouldn't send off a shockwave and destroy everything, it will rain fallout on you, which your local authorities should have a means set up (an early warning system) for such a case. As long as you leave the immediate area in case of such an incident immediately when warned, you should be fine. Thanks for the heads up though, I'd say the only people in immediate danger are those working at the plant. How the hell a tornado hit a facility like that, generally I believed tornadoes to avoid cities and large structures, even malls, due to wind flow but I'm no tornado expert. Just a heads up, this is why you should always have an emergency plan, just in case, no matter where you are. /r/bugout addresses bugout bags and situations, and I frequent it to see new ideas people come up with. Stay safe anyways people. (I would have bought some cheap radiation detector off amazon if I knew I lived so close to something, Boyscout motto, "Always be prepared". You can't necessarily always be prepared, but being in an open mindset and constantly weighing possibilities with some know-how can go a long way.)
4 Ago_Solvo 2015-06-23
P.S. People, a big thing I learned that I forgot to mention that I realize now, while the plume may be 10 miles, or even 50 afterwards, it's probably more like 300 miles. Not meaning that everyone within 300 miles (or actually more like 500 or more) is in danger, but depending on which way the wind does or does not blow, that's how far the debris or fallout can go. There is actually a system to figure out, a program online specifically, for any and all of these cases, to estimate how far it will go. It's designed for much smaller incidents, that are still catastrophic, if I can find the link I will post it in case anyone is interested. So basically while the plume will go up over a 10 mile radius, if the wind is X amount of knots going from West to East, it can travel X amount of distance. I'm almost positive the program is public for anyone so if anyone knows it offhand they can post it if I don't end up remembering myself.

Also an NBC Chicago report from May 14th 2015.
Nuclear Evacuation Preps in Question for Chicago Area Communities
edit:
The Dresden Nuclear Power Station is using a boiling water reactor, which is a really old and dangerous design.
If it comes to a meltdown, the core will easily breach the containment by melting through control rods that are inserted from below.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiling_water_reactor#Disadvantages
3 Hiddencamper 2015-06-23
I'm a BWR senior reactor operator.
About our control rods, they do go in from the bottom. They are driven in by water pressure. There are 3 ways the rods can be inserted to scram the reactor. First is the control rod drive pumps which can insert all rods. Second is that each rod has a pressurized tank of water with 1500-2000 PSIG of pressure that can insert each individual rod. Third is if the reactor is >600 PSIG, there are small check valves that will open to use reactor water to drive the rods in (it's much slower, but can shut the core down in the required time for the safety analysis). The scram lines for each control rod are held shut with electricity from the reactor protection system. If power to the reactor protection system is lost, the scram valves open, allowing this high pressure water to be injected underneath the control rod, slamming it into the core. BWR control rods are actually faster than the gravity driven rods that PWRs use. My BWR plant can get the reactor fully shutdown in under 1 second.
Once the rods are inserted, they have a ratchet locking mechanism preventing them from being removed. Removing the control rods requires the scram system be reset, and the normal drive pumps put back in standby.
Some interesting facts about control rods. They melt before the fuel does, meaning that in some very specific scenarios where the core is uncovered, but you get water level back up before the fuel melts, you may raise the water level only to find the control rods melted and the reactor is starting back up on its own. In this situation operators would be forced to start liquid boron injection, as it would be the only way of maintaining the core shut down with melted control rods.
In both a BWR and PWR, the fuel can easily melt through the bottom of the reactor vessel. PWR vessels, I believe, tend to fail all at once. While BWR vessels, because of all the control rod ports at the bottom, tend to only have melts and leaks through these ports, rather than a sudden rapid failure, meaning that there's a stronger possibility of holding the melted fuel in the reactor core.
Hope this was interesting!

That does sound like strange weather, but I don't see posts on that forum or this thread thinking of a possible cause to it.
What are people thinking it is? What do people here think? I don't know what to think, other than its just a random part of nature occurring and won't last. If there is a group out there purposely doing it, via weather control, what is the motive and end goal? Surely they can't "aim" a tornado to hit a nuclear plant....

10 WideAwakeNWO 2015-06-23
This is a bullshit post. I contacted several businesses nearby the nuclear power station and asked if they were open for business, and if they had a tornado come through there.
All of them are open for business and all of them said the Tornado did not directly hit them, or nearby.
Seems to me if a Cat 2-3 tornado came through and was strong enough to do damage to a power plant, that these business's wouldn't be open for business today.
Nice try OP.

I know for a fact something is indeed going down. I have a relative who works for UniStar Nuclear Energy, whom share the same nuclear management and control system database as Exelon Nuclear. Now, our fish, livestock, and produce are contaminated on the west coast and it's STILL heading east. Our government didn't do shit to let us know that this was a possibility yet now we are supposed to rely on MSM for "accurate" news reporting? Not sure how long you've lived in this country but it doesn't seemed like you've learned anything or you're just not paying attention.
2 RobDinkleworth 2015-06-23
No, the evacuation began the next day, April 27th.
2 fixerofthings 2015-06-23
My bad. Memory isn't what it used to be considering I just saw an excellent post about 2 months ago from someone (can't find the thread now) who laid out in great detail the entire event history at Chernobyl. I didn't know much about it before but I was really fascinated...and impressed how thorough OP was in the details.
But seriously, I still don't trust them to put the public's interest before their own.
3 RobDinkleworth 2015-06-23
I've just read and watched a lot of material about Chernobyl, and hate seeing misinformation spread. There were still cleanup workers at the plant weeks later, and the evacuation itself took some time, but the Pripyat evacuation did begin within 24 hours of the explosion.
I'm with you though, I wouldn't put it past any energy company to fuck a community for their bottom line.
2 fixerofthings 2015-06-23
Yeah I think that's what stuck with me. The fact that there were workers there weeks after the event.
I just don't trust energy companies or large corporations...i.e duh gubmint
-1 Drinkgamedrunk 2015-06-23
Of course you don't, because like with this you believe a bunch of made up bullshit.
1 fixerofthings 2015-06-23
Say what you want. I don't care. I guess I would rather people have a fair chance at making up their own minds rather than someone do it for them. If this is all fake then I guess we've all been duped but, like I said, I travel through this area and if shit like this was actually going down then I want to know so I could avoid it. Seems you're on a different page.
0 Drinkgamedrunk 2015-06-23
Sounds like you've made up your mind and cast aspersions to get there.
2 nuclear_white 2015-06-23
Haven't heard anything from Exelon or the NRC on this...
2 canihaveahint 2015-06-23
There is a great disturbance in the force.
2 robotheadache 2015-06-23
I guess time will tell if this is true.

Altered picture of lightning 35 miles north or dresden plant. Picture facing south

Here's an article that says they're not doing that well ATM financially. http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/7/71/477077/nuclear-plants-illinois-shuttered-dont-get-break-state-exelon-says
Edit: what's the point of the cloak and dagger stuff when he's already posted it online ?
2 Redpythongoon 2015-06-23
Where? Grundy Colorado Illinois? Or am I just retarded
3 dbroncs80 2015-06-23

"July 15, 2011: Plant declared an Alert at 10:16 a.m after a chemical leak of sodium hypochlorite restricted access to a vital area that houses plant cooling water pumps.[3]" from the wiki on the Dresden Power Plant in Illinois, maybe the oversight just wasn't there.
How bad of a "leak" was it in 2011 I wonder if this post has any truth to it.
3 davidtoni 2015-06-23
Uhh, doesn't this just mean that, for some reason, bleach is leaking?
Hardly a catastrophe. Unless you're wearing colors, that is.
2 bigtimeball4life 2015-06-23
Hmmmm you are probably correct it didn't cause any harm. In any case does this post have any further updates because a tornado did hit the area I believe. Curious.
2 davidtoni 2015-06-23
Hahaha, just a guess. I didn't notice the date.
And yes, I can confirm (through driving through there) that there WAS a tornado...it did NOT hit Dresden or Morris.
They didn't even SCRAM the plant--which they will sometimes do as too much energy in one place is a BAD thing for nuke plants. It was simply diverted (automagically) into the grid and that was that.
There's no safer place to be during an EF-2 tornado than a containment vessel...trust me on this one. Even if it's "live" it's damn safe.

Do you have a source?

Just google it dude...
EDIT: I did it for you

building nuclear power plants near oceans where huge tsunamis could show up at any moment, building them in the path of fucking tornadoes, who the fuck decided all this crap?

They build these things where there is space and an easy source of water in case they need water quickly.

Tornados were taken into consideration when designing these plants. Google "10 cfr 50 tornados"

So nothing happened. The top minds does it again.

I live basically in the worst possible area if something is to go down, has there been any updates or does anyone know how serious the damage done is? Kinda freaked out.

What does ComEd do exactly? I hear them advertised on the radio during Cubs games.

I'm wondering that too, lol. I troll them all the time and still have a press pass.
3 PrivilegeCheckmate 2015-06-23
But then you have hat hair. AND a nuclear meltdown. What a shitty Tuesday.
