What is the most out-there conspiracy you've heard, which you can either believe or disbelieve, that isn't among the more popular claims?

A lot of stuff in this sub is interesting, but sometimes there are some wacko ideas that are still very fun to read.

A long time ago, in the days of MySpace, I was having a chat with a Muslim girl. She claimed that 9/11 was perpetrated by the Jews. Not the government, but just "The Jews." She actually believed that "there were no Jews in the towers that day; they all left the building before the planes hit."

Yes, because there couldn't possibly be any Jews in a trade center, in New fucking York.

I met an actual 'Flat Earther' about a week ago and it blew my mind. He was the real deal. Once I got comfortable around him I started to throw everything I had at him:

Gravity, tides, orbits, curvature of the earth, astronomy, seasons, navigation, satellites, solar system exploration, and anything else I could think of. And you know what? The guy had a legitimate and well thought out answer and explanation for it all.

I left his presence still believing Flat Earth Theory was bullshit, although I did have respect for his conviction and ability to counter any argument I had. It was an eye-opener to say the least.

I don't know if you've made the connection or not, but you could change the subjects and have a near-identical conversation with a climate denier or Christian missionary. They whole-heartedly believe the bullshit, without a hint of irony or malice, and seek to spread the Good News. They're not paid shills and they're not doing it in Satanic service to their masters, they simply believe in the world presented to them.

The inner earth stories. I was listening to a coast to coast like program once years ago and a regular caller told the following story:

He's been blowing the whistle on this program for weeks and they sent an assassin to his rural estate to silence him, the assassin sniped a neighbor accidentally instead of our hero so hero grabs his rifle and returns fire, turns the tables, hunts the assassin down, finds a blood trail and tire tracks a couple miles out.

Anyway, the whistleblowing was that there are giants and dinosaurs in inner earth waiting for the signal to come forth in the bringing of the apocalypse. This guy was a veteran who's seen all this with his own eyes and decided to spill the beans.

It was maybe four or five years ago. It's as fantastic a story as Phil Schneider's except maybe less credible because audio not video and no scars as evidence.
