Is THIS what Aaron Schwartz wanted?

A post that was upvoted to number one is being removed for specious reasons. This sub is the last bastion of uncensored reddit. Speak out or lose what you love

Sad. Looking more and more like /r/worldnews every day.

though i do agree with you

i will say this, im relatively new to reddit though i disagree with the post removal the mods here and more patient and willing to explain than just about anywhere else ive encountered on the net

Mod's butting the fuck out is the one of the main things that set this sub apart. It seems 'meme' is becoming a 'catch all' term for anything a mod disagrees with or disproves of.

I'm starting to think rule 8 also exists for the purpose of stopping any of our unwelcome truths from going 'viral.'

edit:word

Which post are you referring?

the one that was number one all morning until 15 minutes ago

Still lost bud, I just got on for the first time today an hour ago tops.

You talking about that picture of Hillary kissing that KKK founder or something?

for the record he didnt found the KLAN, he started his own chapter and personally recruited 150 members

It's surprising that it was taken down, however, the picture itself shouldn't surprise anyone.

I've never looked at Shillary as a good person or in a gleaming light, I mean just look at her quotes/stance on gay marriage while Bill was in office compared to now, she's just seems like a social chameleon (then again, aren't all politicians to a point?), who's opinions/morals/beliefs change with a sneeze, that will use what is currently in and accepted by the majority to get votes, and THEN the agenda/plan/whatever follows.

TL;DR - I'm voting for Dukakis

fwiw bernie is still running the same platform hes always ran on

Oh no worries, if I were to vote it'd more than likely be Bernie, I just didn't want the hordes of downvotes and original point misdirection due to people believing I was trying to spread some form of agenda in light of another political party.

I hear ya, believe me you're preaching to the choir on this one..lol

is it number one right now?

Oh snap.

oh snap indeed

correction: as close to uncensored as a conspiracy sub can get

Reddit is controlled opposition. This sub is better than the rest, but to think you have anything close to free speech here is absurd. Reddit is a battleground for minds like yours. You see through the bullcrap and come looking for answers. This sub ends up being more about your containment.

There are places online that make this sub look no better than worldnews and like. That said, it isn't about finding an internet forum to connect on; realistically everything said on here has been going on over and over for at least a few hundred years.

If you want some good info, check out books. F.A. Hayek's Road to Serfdom was eye opening for me. Further, even before reading, you'd do well to educate yourself in the trivium at least.

Maybe it's not as uncensored as you believe it to be

oh im just trying to avoid the ban hammer I know EXACTLY where im playing...lol

Nice. I am shocked and disgusted that it's come to this but it is what it is I guess. Its just a shame that we can't have grown up discussions about the problems we face just being alive on this planet. I mean how can we ever get to solutions if we can't even acknowledge the problems.

Mature convo, no bans, no trolls, and no topic off limits at www.nrgiseternal.com

Thanks I'll have to check it out.

We won't ban you for questioning mod actions politely, the removal reason is more than adequately explained in the stickied post. However, we may ban you if you endlessly spam your own website.

endlessly spam or post a single link...?

Second time I've seen it, just saying... Less is more.

ive linked id say a half dozen times since i made the account only when a poster commented bemoaning censorhsip so I thought Id offer a solution, didnt realize it was excessive, apologies

It's not excessive and if it doesn't happen too often is usually tolerated, just don't go too mad.

understood and thank you for the warning as well as the open dialogue regarding the removed post, truly i appreciate this

perhaps you could tell me how that image was low quality and pixely

yet a mod had to make a throwaway and explain the divide and dissent among the mods on this specific issue so its not quite as cut and dry as you're painting it correct?

We had a vote and around 2/3 voted for removal, I have no idea what throwaway you mean though as it's not in the sticky post, link?

Still not seeing an actual throwaway though, that's his username and has been for a few years...

ah my apologies than, that was a genuine misunderstanding i am relatively new to reddit. It does seem as though he raised some salient points

He did indeed, though I'll freely admit I was on the 'remove' side of the vote. The reason for that is if anyone can slap some words on an image with a clickbaity title and get a lot of karma for a low-effort post how long before the entire frontpage looks that way? Added to the double-whammy of such shitposts being upvoted by the sub's detractors to cheapen the reputation and image of /r/conspiracy and bury far more important posts from appearing in /r/all. Never assume that everyone voting here has the subs best wishes at heart.

Ive seen superior posts downvoted for no reason other than they espoused a point that a well know group of downvoters on reddit is paid to downvvote, and no action taken to cease the deplorable practic, i agree the principles you are stating should be protected, its just a matter of equal protection

fyi reddit conspiracy is largely regarded as what reddit news used to be, so if you are truly concerned with reddits image, maybe look into why that is. Also since his title was the major point of contention rather than remove the post why not give the op a chance to edit it?

We took great efforts to ensure that the topic itself was not censored.

The post we removed didn't even begin to have an appropriate title, the title gave no clue at all as to what the content of the post was about. Then the image macro didn't even clue people into who this KKK leader was.

If you're going to make a post here atleast put a little effort into it. Just a wink.

i agree the title was imperfect, i see no issue with the picture quality and there was at least a clue as you phrased it as to who hillary was kissing(not too many open former klan chapter founders in the senate) My point is i think the points it was removed on are relatively trivial compared to the value of the content the picture was generating, perhaps op could have been given a chance to amend the title since that seems to have been the major point of contention

OP is still welcome to make a higher quality post.

So tear down rather than edit? not sure how that benfits anyone

Well it's not possible to edit titles on Reddit. That would have been ideal.

I have an idea that mods could take, though. Not edit, but modify a title.

With CSS yeah but it wouldn't work outside of conspiracy and I don't think we have that level of CSS talent onboard.

True. As for the CSS, ask and you shall receive:

div#thing_POSTID p.title a.title::before {
    content: 'Context Here - ' !important;
}

Cheers!

Feel like the subject matter is getting very good play here. It's the top story on "Hot." I don't like memes and pictures clogging the feed. Can't jump on the bandwagon. And I'm not sure Aaron Schwartz would've been against it, either.

thats why i posed a question, and i value your answer :0)

This is stupid - Everyone in government worked with Bobby Byrd. HIs past was well know, and he was also accepted for having reformed. So how is it that Hillary is a Klansman for being seen with Bobby Byrd?

NO one said she is a klansman however shes awfully cozy with one and that says a lot about her

oh im just trying to avoid the ban hammer I know EXACTLY where im playing...lol
