The recently appointed r/WhereIsAssange moderator who was discovered as new to Reddit just banned the moderator of the new r/WhereIsJulian

My prior post:

Just got his/ her message:

This doesn't bode well from r/WhereIsAssange.

UPDATE

The mod makes an appearance and proves in the very thread about him being new that he is in fact new to Reddit lol. The script writes itself.

UPDATE 2 - SHILLCEPTION!!! This got fun.

She was banned for the following comment, as well as repeatedly telling users to fuck off. Not exactly welcoming.

ECUADOR IS NOT FORBIDDING HIM FROM SAYING 'HI' ON THE INTERNET STOP SAYING THAT YOU LITTLE DISHONEST FUCK. GET OFF THIS FORUM. IM NOT ALLOWED TO CALL YOU A SHILL SO I WONT I'LL JUST SAY ALL YOU DO IS GO AROUND AND FUCK WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE SINCERELY, HONESTLY, INTELLIGENTLY TRYING TO PIECE TOGETHER WHAT HAPPENED TO ASSANGE

OP, anyone here can check your post history and see that all you've done lately is attack me (it's suspicious how many nit picks you seem to have and how much you recycle the exact same points). But attacking not knowing a title could be edited? Forgive me for being used to subs with title change policies, it was an admittedly dumb mistake, haha. That's just a little bit silly.

You seem to be trying very hard to undermine our sub. As /u/iamdanger_us said before, banning /u/TheEarthquakeGirl was not my unilateral decision. She was banned only when her behavior became unreasonable and unprofessional. We have no issue at all with her sub, and linked to it in the sidebar and have encouraged others to go there for less organized and maintained discussion.

I'm not "recently appointed" either. I've been working with /u/iamdanger_us since the inception of the sub, and moderating Discord, I have only recently begun helping with moderation on the subreddit.

We have standards for discussion to allow people to converse and share information. This requires we actually moderate somewhat, since otherwise vote farms for clickbait and hype content completely overrun our regular subscribers.

... After a long exchange with a known, intolerable shill. What's the big deal?

We expect our users to conduct themselves according to standards, not to lower themselves to the level of those they are criticizing. That is childish and inappropriate for what we would like to be a serious sub for citizen journalism, investigation and information organization/discussion.

If you think someone is acting inappropriately, report them. The "big deal" is responding with CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL anger and vitriol, and lashing out at users who attempted to criticize her behavior.

Lashing out at shills after an extensive back and forth and par and course for dealing with shills.

Not appropriate in our sub. We're trying to maintain a professional, reasoned and conscientious atmosphere.

All caps yelling at shills is 1) against the rules, 2) rude and immature.

Ok maybe tell him to not use all caps and edit his comment.

Maybe give him a stern warning (do this or be banned)

?

I gave him multiple warnings. I then ignored him, but his comments were almost half of the moderation queue, and the other mods independently raised the issue and we all agreed there was a problem.

Would be easier trust a mod that got kicked out from here for being a jerk to a shill than the current team.

I don't know why small subs would need wellbehaved mods and strict rules.

Let us downvote the garbage.

Thank you. "Let's error on side of protecting the shills" is basically their policy.

And not knowing a title could be edited? Forgive me for being used to subs with title change policies, it was an admittedly dumb mistake, haha.

OMG this is rich. Screen captured. YESSSS

Yes, I had a reason to be suspicious before. This is also a reason

Look don't take it personally, anyone would be suspicious with statements like these, as newly appointed mods no less. I don't know what your deal is, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I personally have no problem calling out shills after the exchanged has developed and reached the point of no return. "Fuck off" is reasonable enough. If anyone does it from the get-go, that is wrong, but being rude to someone after they are clearly shown to be an annoying shill is something else.

Congratulations? I'm not sure what you hope to achieve by screencapping something I willingly admitted?

I really don't find it a huge deal. But, I do take it personally that almost all of your recent activity is attacking me.

I don't want our sub to experience censorship either. But the fact of the matter is that with the shill and vote farming activity since we've been "on the radar", organic voting is not accurately representing the interests of the sub. Certain posts have been repeatedly upvoted absurdly (compared to their comments), and are then reposted repeatedly by the same user or users that always seem to show up with the original poster. These threads without exception contain a handful of astrojerked comments at the top, with the dozen comments by longtime subscribers asking for it to be removed pushed down, or sometimes even slid with repeated copy/pastes of the exact same walls of text.

This sort of activity requires us to intervene to maintain a community our users can browse and discuss freely on. The argument you're making is similar to saying that Citizens United enhances free speech: no moderation of these threads led to them drowning out the voices of legitimate users, suppressing their speech and making it difficult for them to actually discuss.

Deciding to moderate more was not an easy decision, and not one we came to until we had a 10 page mod queue backlog and angry users. Also, I am not a "new" mod. I have been with /r/WhereIsAssange since its inception, /!; have moderated Discord since the first few days we were around. I volunteered to assist /u/iamDanger_us when he was unable to handle the moderation load alone.

I think you're not aware that no subs on Reddit let you edit titles That is where you were caught.

No, but many subs have title change policies where submissions are removed and reposted with new titles.

Lol yeah obviously you can delete the entire fucking post and submit another post. That's a completely fucking different thing than editing title and you know it.

Ok, your decision.

Now... I can go put this on Discord, make more threads, PM as many people as I can, post this all over your little r/WhereIsAssange...

Or I'll delete this thread, forget about it, and you fucking promise to protect me, u/earthquakgirl and whoever else I say, to never fucking delete or lock or remove their posts and to never fucking ban me or them.

You have two glaring strikes in front of you that prove you don't know shit about Reddit.

What are you going to do?

Nothing? Why would I care? Contest in modmail like everyone else.

Everyone in our sub can see why you and your friends were banned, we have public moderator logs and mail. Promise to protect you? Really?

Are you trying to blackmail or shame me? What's up with that?

Lol you can go ahead and ban me from r/WhereIsAssange. You most certainly will be soon.

No? You haven't broken any rules or caused any problems there, so I have no reason to.

Or I'll delete this thread, forget about it, and you fucking promise to protect me, u/earthquakgirl and whoever else I say, to never fucking delete or lock or remove their posts and to never fucking ban me or them.

You definitely seem like the kind of person that SHOULDN'T be contributing to /r/WhereIsAssange - stop swearing. Hope you get banned.

And you think a moderator who is brand new to Reddit being put in a trusted position in a really politically polarizing sub is acceptable in any way shape or form?

Well its a website, and you don't own it, or anything on it. You literally have 0 say in any of this. Want proof? Nothings going to change from this bitch fit.

Oh really? Never seen Reddit moderators forced out because the community turns on them?

And you think a moderator who is brand new to Reddit being put in a trusted position in a really politically polarizing sub is acceptable in any way shape or form?

As far as I'm aware, they're not new to Reddit.

That's the entire purpose of....

SHILLCEPTION !! WOOT

Two consecutive blunders showing she does not know how Reddit works. One got everyone suspicious - but no - don't stop - she gave us more... GOT TO GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT.

I don't think you're an honest account looking through your posts, so I know what you'll say. Can't be bothered though. I'm actually just delighted that a mod has so foolishly exposed themselves twice now, and brought in her alt account to help defend her. It's just a funny rare incident you can only smile about.

I'm an honest account.

My name is Hayden, I recently created a free tool for Facebook Reaction Videos, here: https://react.cast.net.au - which I've posted about on Reddit.

I regularly hang around on /r/Australia. I've been on reddit for 6 years. I'm a much more genuine account than you, "redditor for 25 days"

You're the same kind of person who would accuse me of being a shill, or CIA agent. Seriously. Is it any wonder no-one trusts the conspiracy theories of you guys, because you constantly denounce genuine users as being shills. Fuck.

I don't know maybe because you race around the subreddit 9-5 like its your job constantly telling people they are wrong.

I don't know man, I don't even care. Life is good.

I don't know maybe because you race around the subreddit 9-5 like its your job constantly telling people they are wrong.

Hmm - no. I've only been commenting on the traffic camera footage of 3 White Ford Transit vans - which user /u/bountyhunter59 claims are Serco Trucks (seriously?) and user /u/wrines has continuously spammed to the sub, even after it's been pointed out that they obviously aren't police vans, and there's no road block visible.

/u/wrines and /u/bountyhunter59 are probably the same people. Why don't you look into /u/wrine's threads:

Why does this keep getting buried? **MUST HAVE STRUCK A NERVE!

why is my thread suddenly gone from all lists I can see? Please tell me this sub isnt taken over like /r/wikileaks and /r/conspiracy

PICS of White Vans leaving Embassy with Road Blocks the night Julian Internet was Cut. (these pics are really stirring a lot of heat, rude comments on this board and shadow banning on twitter)

Article with BLACK BAG OP photos!!! archive before this disappears mysteriously

ALL 4 of these threads are about the same "evidence" - a picture of 3 white Ford Transit vans in the general vicinity of the embassy.

Well I'll certainly believe you're a React developer. Those guys are impossibly anal.

JavaScript continues it's reign of terror.

Well I'll certainly believe you're a React developer. Those guys are impossibly anal.

Not a react developer lol.

Anyway, to get an idea of what I'm talking about, check out this thread: https://np.reddit.com/r/WhereIsAssange/comments/5fhtzb/where_did_serco_take_julian_did_they_help_him/

Make of it what you will. If you believe those vans are Serco trucks, that's fine. But I sure don't, and many others don't. I was simply trying to explain why people may have been downvoting their posts - not trying to tell them what's allowed and what's not.

While not required, you are requested to use the NP (No Participation) domain of reddit when crossposting. This helps to protect both your account, and the accounts of other users, from administrative shadowbans. The NP domain can be accessed by replacing the "www" in your reddit link with "np".

lol exactly.

... which subs have title change policies?

You can't do that on reddit at all. Title changes require a resubmission.

Not attacking just confused. Do you mean forum?

WhereIsAssange is on the radar now, it got too popular and the shills are out in force. Just have to keep making new subreddits any time free speech is no longer allowed.

It was subreddit of the day twice in two weeks....

No, they told us the 23rd, and then the SRoTD bot moved it back to the 28th. You can ask /u/BatMunki for confirmation.

OK. I was like wtf 2 times in a week or 2. Someone wants us to be the place people go to for This and not wikileaks. Are any mods in this sub (r/whereisassange) directly connected to wikileaks?

No. None of us have any connection or relation to Wikileaks or their staff.

We were contacted by /u/BatMunki with a questionnaire to fill out about a week or two ago, in light of our sudden boom in userbase.

I'm just hoping the switch never happens. It's hard to tell who are agents and who are real.

can confirm

I got ousted from r/WikiLeaks earlier today.

Message mods. Look at the rules, if you didn't break any, complain and they'll let you back in

The first post is two mods on the sub discussing Reddit rules. Probably should have taken the conversation to Discord, but it wasn't. They're completely capable mods with a lot of work to do to keep the sub decent.

Secondly, if you go to the r/WhereIsAssange sub it has a public mod log. You can check out the why that user got a ban. Given the details, it's understandable, but I'm sad to see her go.

https://np.reddit.com/r/WhereIsAssange/comments/5ee17b/announcement_mod_shuffling_and_backup_on_voat/

The mods over there take it pretty seriously. Of course, people should always be suspicious if they have reason to be, but so far so good on the sub front.

They usually gives warnings not bans for calling a user a shill. That's what I see normally happen anyways.

Oh well, at least the mod caused a new potentially useful sub to be born :)

They usually gives warnings not bans for calling a user a shill. That's what I see normally happen anyways.

It happened repeatedly.

Oh are you a moderator alt account? How do you know?

Oh are you a moderator alt account? How do you know?

No, I'm not a moderator. I was there in the thread, where the user kept calling people shills and swearing for no reason.

Then there's /u/wrines who was also in the thread (their mate), who kept calling me a CIA agent - just because I didn't think the blurry images of 3 white Ford Transit vans on a traffic camera were enough "evidence" for a police operation.

The sub being trustworthy is more important than it being PC.

Why do you care about a couple of mods so much? If they care about the sub they can still contribute as regular users. Even if this a question of optics, without any accusations, we should always err on the side of caution.

Users has to trust the mods for this sub to survive, otherwise they'll leave as soon as they're drowned out by shills.

I care because someone is claiming that sub is going under and I'm there every day. I have plenty of evidence to the contrary. Call me a shill for defending the subs I frequent, but if you start to make accusations without supporting evidence, we look like idiots, not intelligent truth seekers that we want to be.

That's fine, I have no allegiance to any sub.

I consider /r/whereisassange suspect, and until that changes, I have no interest in that sub.

You can call me whatever you want, it wont make me trust shady people doing shady stuff. I'll stick to talking to others wanting proof of life outside of reddit.
