After Trump's inaugural address, Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow and ABC's Terry Moran invoked dark comparison's Hitler, Nazism, and anti-Semitism... why? Because Trump had the NERVE to utter the phrase "America first"

Washington Examiner:
MSNBC's Chris Matthews: Trump's inauguration speech 'Hitlerian':
MSNBC's Chris Matthews offered a harsh critique of President Trump's message of "America first" in his inaugural address Friday, describing it as being "Hitlerian."
"When he said today 'America first' it was not just the racial, I mean the — I shouldn't say racial, the Hitlerian background to it," Matthews said, making a reference to the speeches delivered by Nazi Germany leader Adolf Hitler.

MSNBC, ABC hosts deem Trump inaugural address as 'militant,' 'anti-Semitic'
QUOTES:
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow emotionally proclaimed Trump's "America's First" slogan has "very dark echoes in American history."
"There was an America First Committee that formed in this country, hundreds of thousands of people in this country, some of the richest businessmen in the country who were part of it, they were formed to keep us out of World War II. They were infiltrated by the Nazis, many of them are anti-Semitic, part of why they weren't alarmed by Hitler's rise in Germany," Maddow said.
Over on ABC, journalist Terry Moran echoed Maddow's comments saying Trump's speech reminded him of the 1930s.
"It carries with it overtones from the 1930s when an anti-Semitic movement saying, 'We don't want to get involved in Europe's war. It's the Jews fault in Germany!'"
Maybe Trump SHOULD have said "ISRAEL FIRST"???

I don't like Mark Dice much, but he pointed this out, and he's right. This is disgusting. What is wrong with thinking of ourselves first?
n/a gonzobon 2017-01-21
Because "ourselves" is humanity. Put humanity first. We're all one species stuck on a rock flying through space with finite resources.
Patriotism and nationalism is holding us back as a species.

I agree, but the utopia you want to happen will never happen I'm sorry to say, imo. We are stupid hairless apes and will never get to Star Trek before mass extinction, exhausting all resources and destroying our ecosystem. I wish it could be different.

As soon as we can use technology to make sure everyone is playing fair, we will begin to see some major changes. Distributed systems that self regulate.

If you ever want humanity to come together, all religions would need to go first. I don't see that ever happening.

I think the Internet will spread information eventually. The numbers of athiests has risen and church attendence is down.

As populations rise, we continue to wipe out species and use up finite resources every day. CO2 levels are rising, and methane is going to start releasing from many areas in the world speeding up that process even more. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and there is no worse news. Believe me when I say this grieves me down to my being every single day, and I wish humanity weren't so short sighted, tribalistic, greedy and power-hungry.
We can't even get a good health care system in the richest country in the world. People in this country are fine with others simply dropping dead if they can't pay up. We are not going to make it.
n/a Zanis45 2017-01-21
Hmm No thanks. The world isn't ready for that yet.
n/a gonzobon 2017-01-21
and that exact attitude is why we fail.
n/a Zanis45 2017-01-21
It isn't an attitude it is a fact you special snowflake you.
n/a gonzobon 2017-01-21
Thanks buddy I think you're special too.
The sooner the world sees that we're all the same is the same day we grow up and fix this planet for future generations.

Because globalism is evip
n/a gonzobon 2017-01-21
Globalism as we know it is evil.
There is a way to do it without disempowering the bottom 99% of the world.

If youre an American, America should be first.
If youre German, Germany should be first.
If your Iranian, Iran should be first.

There's nothing wrong with America for Americans, Germany for Germans.

You're both clearly anti-Semites.

for comparison:
hitler's inaugural address 1933
http://alphahistory.com/nazigermany/hitlers-first-address-as-chancellor/
FDR inaugural address 1933
http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=14473
america first--first used as woodrow wilson's anti-WW1 campaign slogan, FDR also used it in his first run. died down during coldwar. revived as a rallying cry agai st NAFTA in 1994, used by perot--whose only issue was fighti g NAFTA and a dem primary challenger, also running as anti-NAFTA.

i didn't hear the speech, but i read parts of it, was nicely surprised, trump kept most of the trumpi-ness out of it. thought it was an ok speech, parts were very bernie sanders.
my dad, an msnbc junkie asked me about it yesterday, which was weird because he yelled at me the week before that i was never to talk to him about the news again.
i said i thought it was ok. he used the following adjectives: dark, very dark shades of hitler's speech in 1933 and deutschland uber alles
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yLHGTJjHXLo
deutschland uber alles is simply the germany national anthem and has been since before hitler and still is...so i pointed out that it kind of a spurious criticism, and the fact that america first was a nazi group in the US
given the identical criticism, i'd say ge got it from them, esp since he did immediately agree that he already knew that "germany above all" is just the german national anthem and has nothi g to do with nazi's
there was an america first commitee and charles Llndbergh was an anti-semite, but, that's cherry picking.
i don't know how trump, or rather his speech writer intended it, but jumping onto ZOMG!!!!! NAZIS!!!!! because of a 75 year old short lived club that had zero impact historucally soeaking, when the recent/modern usage is as a battle cry by labor against neoliberalism, globalist trade agreements, is a bit of a stretch
requiste disclaimer: i did not vote for trump, i don't particularly like him but he can be legitimately funny, i think his cabinet is a nightmare, there is not one politician in the world i trust, even bernie, let alone trump (though i do think ron paul is usually on the up and up), i voted fir jill.
(when the fuck can the need for disclaimering stop?)

Reminded me of the rebuttal in this interview:
"Are you an antisemite?"
"No I'm not. That's exactly what they're going to say and I expect that. What I am is an American, and you see I think America comes first."

Immediately after the speech the CBS faces said that Trump had said nothing about bringing people together, but actually Trump opened his speech with this statement: "We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and to restore its promise for all of our people." and throughout the rest of his speech he spoke to all, and concluded with this: "So to all Americans, in every city near and far, small and large, from mountain to mountain, and from ocean to ocean, hear these words: You will never be ignored again. Your voice, your hopes, and your dreams will define our American destiny. And your courage and goodness and love will forever guide us along the way. Together, We will make America strong again."
It is the TV, Radio and Newspaper media who is dividing the people of America today.

I wonder if there is a way to have these "news" agencies licenses pulled. Shut them down. At this point they are becoming instigators of unrest in this country. Not the other way around.

its antiseptic to take care of our crumbling society before the Israelis? im pretty sure its gonna be business as usual with trump, but to say its antisemitic to take care of your own first really shows who runs the show and who the slave masters are. the talmudic jews who want the world for themselves with only a few of us slaves left

Read some history.
n/a Amos_Quito 2017-01-21
The above is a classic example of a vacuous comment. These are typically made by individuals who know little or NOTHING of the subject matter at hand, yet seek to project an air of pompous superiority.
if you want to impress us, child, cite those points of "HISTORY" that you pretend I have overlooked in my "ignorance". But you had better be able to back your spiel with impeccable cites, otherwise you may find yourself bitch-clapped, red-faced, and cringing in the corner.
I have a considerable interest in the history of the times. If you can provide information that will enlighten, elucidate and edify, I welcome such instruction, BUT if all you have are moronic drive-by-shootings of snide remarks, crawl back into your hole.
Read some history, you say? Okay, fine. Here is your opportunity to enlighten and educate. Let's see what you have to offer.

Sorry. It was late. I was tired. Charles Lindbergh, who I personally admire, represented a group of anti war, anti Zionist Americans who tried to keep us out of WWII. They were the first and foremost group identified with this slogan. It is also the first listing if you google it. So read some history, please .🐸 - Me trying to be pleasant.
