Google can operate places where intelligence agencies would have trouble or require an elaborate covert operation. Google pops up shop everywhere. Eric Schmidt is not what he seems.

I think google is exactly what it was created to be, a massive manipulation and misinformation tool combined with the data collecting on individual users.

Yeah but that's not what it's trying to appear to be. Didn't say anything about why it was created.

Ok, but it has been obvious from the beginning.

Great, glad you've made that conclusion

Do you think other early search engines were created for the same reason?

I don't know if there was much directing in the beginning, but there was always data collecting. I would have to guess it was planned in, but deployed as technology advanced to allow more data collecting and more manipulation.

It probably just got overtaken. I doubt that's what it was made for.

Anecdotal stories like that are not proof. People also are really good at detecting patterns, sometimes where none really exist.

The head of DARPA (and some of her employees) left to lead Google's ATAP division. Secretive, but seems to be a spin-off of their work at DARPA.

I wonder what the 15 people who downvoted this submission so far are thinking?
