I dont think blood diamond was secretly saying anything, it was a pretty blatant effort to draw attention to the diamond trade

Curious about The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, could you explain? I just love those movies and can't think of how they relate to this.

Isn't LOTR an allegory for the first world war?
n/a VirulentThoughts 2017-03-14
There is a lot going on in LOTR. Some of it is about the world war, Peter Jackson focused on the Industrialist Imperialist/Isolationist Agrarian themes when he filmed his version.

The Hobbit:
The name 'Middle Earth' itself, relating to the below-the-surface layers of the Earth now, that the military has bases in, for starters. Nevermind the caves that have been traveled for thousands of years (probably still are to this day) / ancient underground cities discovered
Different species of hominid-like creatures (dwarves, men, hobbits, orcs, wizards, elves, beasts, etc.) in conflict
Power of infatuation with imagined wealth (fall of the Dwarf kingdom) by way of the Dwarf King letting the lust for gold take over his responsible leadership of his kingdom
There was one specific scene where one of the main villainous orcs came out from he earth itself, and derided a questioner, stating something along the lines of 'you have know idea what capabilities lie below the surface' - As above, so below.
Mystic superpowers (wizard staffs, holy wood (Holly-wood), alchemy, etc)
There was also a scene with the keyhole on the Lonely Mountain: "Stand by the grey stone when the thrush knocks, and the setting sun with the last light of Durin’s Day will shine upon the key-hole.” To me that represented geomancy/ley line/the old straight track levels of depth, bringing together both the sun and the moon to unveil the hidden access.
Much the same ties in with Lord Of The Rings. The idea of instant gratification (Smeagel becoming Gollum) and the 'one ring to rule them all' being significant in the ouroboros/time is a flat circle sort of way. Also, the rise of wizards to different levels could mirror an esoteric rise up the masonic pyramid.
The eye of Sauron tied to the eye of Horus; time viewing (along the metaphysical realms)
Death, resurrection (both on the Sauron side, and the Gandalf side)
J.R.R. Tolkien's tie to the occult (Rumored to be a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn)

It's a stretch, but just to have some fun with speculation:
The Marvel Cinematic Universe...
Hydra (Nazis), a group thought to have been abolished, have secretly infused themselves within S.H.I.E.L.D. (US intelligence agencies) and continue to manipulate the agency from within, all the way to the top levels of administration.
Operation Paperclip comes to mind.
n/a _venkman 2017-03-14
They explicit say that Hydra scientists were brought into Shield etc through operation paperclip in that movie (I think). Zola says so to cap.
Also, the whole winter soldier thing

When it came out I though Wag the Dog was bullshit. Then I learned a lot more about Clinton and realized it was pretty much spot on.
