Blackouts in SF, LA, and NY

What's going on? And why am I seeing threads vanish talking about it?

NY had a couple subway trains, L.A. was an escalator at LAX. Only SF had real power problems.

I've seen screenshots of outage maps and the affected areas around NYC and SF - I'm referring to the diameter of the "hot areas" - look about the same. Hadn't heard NYC was just a few MTA trains - got a link on that? Genuinely curious, cause I saw other comments saying outages in Seattle too, which isn't showing on the outage maps and which definitely has power - I'm in Seattle, so I'm assuming I'd notice (even local news should have said something by now anyway). So, not sure what's accurate at this point...

Can you share the screenshots?

Saw a bunch on posts in this sub, here's the YouTube video linked in one post, which had as a thumbnail a pic of the outage map:

What is project gotham. Mind elaborating?

SF was a faulty breaker at a substation, caused a fire, took forever to put out. Power should be back on by 5pm, though this has been pushed back all day.

^ This. Rational comment that just so happens to also be true. Whoever downvoted you is one sorry sap, he's one of those people that WANTS the world to be evil

NO NO NO!!! Power doesn't just go out all on its own!!! Name just 1 time when power has failed anywhere ever!!!

THE GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO KILL US ALL!!!! WHY CAN'T PEOPLE SEE THIS?

IT'S HAPPENING!

It's not the fact that power went out in SF, it's the fact that it went out in SF, LA AND NY.

I was being extremely sarcastic. I guess that wasn't picked up by everyone.

Apologies.

No worries, bud!

a faulty breaker at a substation, caused a fire,

a very shoddy system if that happens.

Trust you but got a link?

On mobile so copypasta is difficult, but my uncle works for PG&E and can confirm. Substation is located on Larkin, supposedly an older breaker failed and caused all these issues.

Everywhere is WAR!

Get used to it. Rolling blackouts will only become more common in the future.

I think this is a test, much like the Boston bombing, to gauge our reactions.

There's a drill planned for New York also
