I'm off the opinion that Josephus is responsible for the bulk of the New testament, written in service of Vespasian and Titus. And that he even assumed the role of Paul. The Piso variation seems extremely convoluted, with huge leaps and inferences required at way too many steps along the way. I'm not completely shut off to it, but it seems like a tangled mess of reaches and alliterations.

I don’t think the dark is evil in and of itself - not in the least. Not infrequently, the dark can be likened to a parent who disciplines their child - be it through a scolding, a grounding, or even a spanking - with the intention of getting the child to work harder, be more disciplined, studying harder, make better grades, be a better person, etc, etc. Within reason, this type of disciplining cannot in and of itself be said to be a bad or a negative thing. From the perspective of the disciplined child, of course, this is indeed “bad” and “dark”, but if all goes well, a child properly disciplined will often grow up being rather better off because of the disciplining they received while growing up (that thing they at the time looked upon as and considered "darkness").

The dark is the discipline. If you cannot cope, it will eat you up. If you can cope and overcome and learn from what it has to teach you, however, the dark can be responsible for making you become better.
