A 5.1 hit just outside of Seddon 33 min ago, none larger than that recently

I think that must have been the one i heard about. I work on a worksite and heard nz and 6.1.

Not sure if its too big a deal like a below comment says. NZ do get quakes ALL THE TIME.

Feels like everywhere is getting hammered though as of late.

Wellington got a 5.0 just after Invercargill got a 5.8. Not too much of a big deal down here but wow, the world is shaking.

We get shakes all the time so most of us are used to them. Once you get into the 6 range it's big. The one in Invercargill was offshore so I don't think it had much damage. The Wellington one looked a bit worse though but nothing compared to last year.

I mean we get what 14000 quakes a year, an 8 every year, 7 at least every month, hundreds of 2s a day and between 2-7 is like a crap shoot. Lived in Japan for a while and frequently slept through quakes, not the big boy in 2011 but these things happen every day
