Here is a counter-thought: When someone claims to be "one with the universal energy", they may also be claiming access to hidden knowledge.

Such people may then declare dominion into your life (as you are assumed to be 'part of the One')

I recently heard such people as being "Subjectively impaired", as in not allowing individual expression.
