I used to be a republican....

I used to be a republican til the GOP screwed Ron Paul out of the nomination for president in 2012. They used the same tactic used by the DNC to screw Bernie Sanders out of the nomination in 2016. Politics has become a disaster. I am now a Libertarian and an American!!! Now I think all politicians should be removed from office and jailed, at the least and tarred and feathered at the most. They are stealing from us, the American people. What can we do???? Vote them all out!!!!

Better choice, go independent like me
1 NonDucor_Duco2 2017-12-03
Independent is hard though because you don't get to vote in the primaries
1 ImmortalAl 2017-12-03
Fuck it. Who needs em. Vote for the best of primary winner
1 coolshifts 2017-12-03
I do. It depends on the state. In my state I can vote in either primary. But not both. That's really fair. Personally I think parties should not be able to use the state voting systems. They are private clubs. The primaries don't really matter anyway. At the convention they can vote for anyone they want to. They follow the voters but they don't have to. And at the convention there's a lot of politics involved where delegates will change their vote.

Watch your language! There are more than 2 parties.

I have a weird duality. I vote libertarian but understand that the rest of the country only sees two. "we listen to both kinds of music, country and western" that's a Blues Brothers movie reference if you don't get it.

It's no surprise why people usually think that way. However, I believe that if you are aware of shitty societal memes it is your duty to disrupt them or at the very least not fwd them.
The basis for lesser evil/2 party system is mostly bullshit the TV says. If someone is challenged on that view and has a very weak pretext for holding it(the tv told them and that's the end of the story), you might get someone thinking, you know?

What's needed is a truly independent press. I thought the internet would solve the problem but even with the internet nothing counts until the MSM is on board. The masses just go along with the media for the most part.
1 digdog303 2017-12-03
That would be nice! I think the internet really died when the facebooks and googles took on an active role instead of providing pure service. When IPOs for garbage apps became a thing and controlling the narrative became the focus rather than it being an empty table for the user(s) to fill on their own. I call it "web 3.0" and consider the slick, featureless mobile-friendly UIs(which look nice on small touch screens but offer no actual usability or options) the death knell. Now we are no longer active participants, but subscribers; the internet is just another TV channel.

At least the internet provides a platform. Most of what you see on reddit for example would have been a "letter to the editor" in the newspaper days. And only a few of those got to publication. Voices are getting heard now. But what's missing is legitimacy. A Podcaster can have an audience bigger than CNN but it doesn't count politically because it's not mainstream media. Remember the movie hackers? The ending of the movie was all about them getting some documents released on the internet so that the government couldn't squash it. Once the information was out there they were safe. I don't think that sort of scenario even matters anymore. You can put something out on the internet proving a politician broke some laws and nothing will happen. And an older movies a frequent technique was the hero the movie would have to get his documents to the newspaper so that he would be safe and save the world. I have a feeling if you had something serious and gave it to a newspaper they would just sit on it today. They don't want the legal liabilities.

I was a republican from 18-25 too. We all make mistakes man. In my defense, I was on a ton of drugs. Actually, it would be easier to explain the couple drugs I wasn't taking, I was on so much shit.
Funny thing, and I'm dead serious, as soon as I got sober I just couldn't understand why anymore.
1 digdog303 2017-12-03
Hey, I had the same process unfold in my life but democrat instead. Really glad I outgrew that.
1 mastigia 2017-12-03
The whole party system is a scam. And notice how marginalized independents and libertarians are.

It was at least looking like gary johnson had a chance at the 5% boost. I feel like a friggin unicorn for voting green last year.
It's fucked. Even outliers within the 2 major parties are erased by the media.
1 mastigia 2017-12-03
That Gary Johnson was even there shows how fixed it is. I honestly couldn't take him seriously. I didn't agree with all of Stein's positions, but at least she seemed real.

I was a Republican, then a Democrat, now just sick of politicians in general.

So adorable! It thinks it has a democratic system. Canada is truly a totalitarian hell scape.
1 olvie_999 2017-12-03
I agree. When every candidate is corrupt, voting for any of them only makes it worse in the long run.
1 coolshifts 2017-12-03
Self fulfilled prophecy. You are guaranteed to not make any difference. Just vote for whoever you want not what the media says. If you like your boss and think he would be a great president vote for him. Anything but a blank ballot.

Certain I was never a Democrat. At one point I thought I was a Republican and then like yourself, saw what happened to Ross Perot. I looked at Libertarian and that was closer to my internal until I looked at the vast cavern that allows Pedos, Corrupt Politicians to hide behind that Label...straight up Independent going forward.
1 RMFN 2017-12-03
Look up what Washington said about factions.

Never vote by party. For example - George Bush and Hillary Clinton had very similar policies. Donald Trump and Bill Clinton have very similar policies. I never vote by party. I always vote by policy and who is donating to them.
1 neptunzes 2017-12-03
Yes, both the DNC and RNC are controlled by their corporate overlords. That's why I'm an Independent and vote for people like Ron Paul and Bernie.
Two things need to change. We need to cut the monetary strings that TPTB use to control their politician. When asked about the tax cut for the rich, My donors told me to pass the Republican tax bill or 'don't ever call me again'
To fix this we need to repeal Citizens Untied. Check out Wolf-PAC
The other issue is the revolving door between government and corporate lobbyist. Good examples of this are the Goldman Sachs executives Steven Mnuchin and Gary Cohn. Or the GOP megadonor, Betty Devos, or the Verizon lobbyiest Pai who is going to take away our Net Neutrality protections.
To fix this we need to vote for candidates from both sides that pledge to end the crony capitalism. Judge them by their actions, not their words.

While I applaud your decision to break free from the two party tyranny, libertarianism is a completely ridiculous ideology funded mostly by the Kochs in an attempt to allow corporations to pollute at will. Upon further consideration, hopefully you'll come to the conclusion that all 'isms' are fundamentally flawed.

Sorry, but capitalism is certainly included in my critique of fundamentally flawed 'isms'
1 coolshifts 2017-12-03
In any ism there are elements of the others that always creep in, in Socialism or communism there's still always money. You still have people buying and selling things which is capitalism. In a purely capitalist state you always have social programs, that have nothing to do with capitalism. I think in the end the best solution is to have a mix of the best part of all them. Sometimes Society pulling together to help their fellow people makes the most sense. And other times playing on greed to fund some beneficial project or industry also make sense.
1 plato_thyself 2017-12-03
An amalgamation might work. Personally, I think humanity needs to evolve past the concept of money altogether, which is an operating system that has outlived its usefulness, metastasizing from a medium of exchange into the root of all evil.
1 coolshifts 2017-12-03
Don't blame the mechanism. Money is just a way to handle trading things of different values. If I have a cow but need a chicken and some firewood, money makes it a lot easier. The real problem is greed. Without money people would still rip others off with bogus trades of real estate or cars or shiny things. It's human nature.
1 plato_thyself 2017-12-03
I understand this argument and its appeal, but I respectfully disagree. Greed is a symptom of the disease that is money, the great chain that binds, the absolute control mechanism.
1 coolshifts 2017-12-03
Nope. Greed takes many forms. Money just makes it easier. People will hoard rocks if they perceive value in them.
1 digdog303 2017-12-03
I'm hoping for the day that the frustrated and those who don't vote because they are tired of the 2 party trope go 3rd party. That would be some fireworks the media couldn't effectively hide, but nobody does it because almost everyone has the lesser evil bullshit drilled into their minds, along with being taught to identify with their party like it's their "team". I think we'll have to wait for the boomers to die off for that though.
1 dennis_k85 2017-12-03
Since both parties are corrupt there is no choice but to vote 3rd party. But you are correct that enough people will never go that route.
1 hrccbr1000rr 2017-12-03
The system is designed to handle your voting them out. Think of it this way it’s like a grandfather clock, The pendulum is designed to swing wildly side to side. As the whole clock slides down the hill towards the NWO.
