This is the real story. A massive psyops campaign targeting the entire United States (not to mention Brexit), conducted jointly with the RNC and the Russian government. Only Russia benefits from both Brexit and Trump. And Cambridge Analyticia was involved in both.
They're turning it into "Muh Russia!" instead of focusing on the legitimate reasons to be outraged.
And there's a story right now in our New section about "Republicans Push to Extend NSA Surveillance Expiring This Month " getting burred by Right-wingers. What a double-standard.
I’m not really sure they are embracing it. I mean, for a collective of neoliberals, they are seeming pretty woke. I’m sure that this won’t go over very well here, but they are talking about suing because of the surveillance state. Please, correct me if I’m wrong.
You're giving them too much credit...they are largely outraged because of "Russia" etc.
The surveillance state has been encroaching rather dramatically for the last 25 years...and the fact that they appear up in arms only now is as misguided as it is suspicious.
I think that when we analyze things, we look for our own bias in them and this case is no different.
Why wouldn’t they be outraged because of Russia? Or Cambridge? Seems to be well within their rights, considering CA has helped elect Trump and push Brexit and they stand to benefit. Russia also stands to benefit from both things happening.
Are all people on r conspiracy crazy? No. Do people say they are and generalize the entire sub? Yes. Does that bother you? I would imagine so. Now, on the other hand, you’re putting all these politricks in the same basket saying that they are just now up in arms about surveillance, but some, if not most have probably been against it.
considering CA has helped elect Trump and push Brexit and they stand to benefit.
Did they though?
This seems like more of the same posturing/grandstanding in an attempt to "blame" someone for Trump's victory.
Russia also stands to benefit from both things happening.
Citation needed on Russia benefiting from a Trump presidency...from my perspective Trump's victory has made them into an international bogeyman again for the first time in decades.
you’re putting all these politricks in the same basket saying that they are just now up in arms about surveillance
I'm only going off of what I've observed in the last year or so on that sub.
It's consistently manufactured and misguided outrage...the hivemind mentality that reigns supreme there simply cannot be denied at this point.
Of course not everyone has succumbed to the group think, but for all intents and purposes, it's nearly impossible to express anything that goes against the grain in that sub and have your voice heard.
/r/conspiracy, at the very least, lets alternative views have a fighting chance.
/r/conspiracy, at the very least, lets alternative views have a fighting chance.
Yes, if you believe that the left is ruining the world through cultural Marxism.
Did they though?
This seems like more of the same posturing/grandstanding in an attempt to "blame" someone for Trump's victory.
You really, as a contributor to a conspiracy sub, haven’t read anything about this at all? Nothing? It’s the right wing sharia blue.
Citation needed on Russia benefiting from a Trump presidency...from my perspective Trump's victory has made them into an international bogeyman again for the first time in decades.
Well, judging from the Flynn indictment, it seemed like any sanctions would be ignored (which, afaik, they are being ignored), which would benefit them. Plus, destabilizing the two most powerful alleged democracies creates a channel where Russia can make a power grab, a money grab or both.

Again, do you think conspiracy is immune to this kind of thinking, because it isn’t. At all. Left/right paradigm aside, this place has several different hive minds going at once. Depends on the day, really.

See, my guy, people who are trained in the art of cultural marxism make their own assumptions based off of information they've studied and that's what I've done.
I could link you to dozens of articles, you'll call them fake news and then we will be right back here, with you doing damage control while I am just trying to squirt out a dookie.
See, my guy, people who are trained in the art of cultural marxism make their own assumptions based off of information they've studied and that's what I've done.
That's a very wordy way of saying, "I'm full of shit," and Russia didn't actually do anything.
It doesn't matter if I agree with you or not. Axolotl asked for clarification on what Russia did. All you've done in response is pretend(?) to be retarded.
By the way, since you won't answer that question try this one:
Let me ask you a few questions: are you his lawyer? WHy are you so hell bent on getting an answer that I have already given?
Russia influenced our election like we do to other countries. I don't agree with it when we do it, so I don't take kindly to it happening to me. Flynn has been indicted. Manafort has as well. Both have major ties to shady Russia, eastern European finances, so I don't think this stops at them.
WHy are you so hell bent on getting an answer that I have already given?
We've both established that you haven't given that answer. Are you still pretending to be retarded?
are you his lawyer?
Is this your first time in a discussion forum? Do you understand the premise of reddit and how it works? I was lurking when I saw you spinning bullshit and checked it. I have no actual relation to axolotl.
Flynn has been indicted.
For lying about legal contacts with non-hostile state actors.
Manafort has as well.
For financial crimes dating back several years that have nothing to do with the 2016 election.
Both have major ties to shady Russia
Everyone has "major ties" to "shady" Russia. Just look at the Podesta Group.
Russia isn't "shady" though. That's just your standard leftist xenophobia talking.
so I don't think this stops at them.
All of this yacking to still not come out and actually say what Russia has done.
Do you allow users here to use “retard” as a derogatory term? Because you’re lawyer called me one. Also, I reported a hate speech comment that hasn’t been removed. But those probably don’t irk you as much as liberals do!
Ive enjoyed watching the fluff youve spat out since being asked the most simple of questions... "you wouldnt believe me anyway" "go research yourself"...funny shit
Haha im not saying you didnt give an 'answer'...its just that the answers you gave contained nothing of actual substance. Ill help you out.
What did Jimmy do wrong? He killed my cat = tangible response
What did Russia do wrong? A weakened America is good for Russia, Manafort was indicted, you wouldnt believe me anyway, go research for yourself etc etc = nothing fluff
The rabid fellas over at the Donald would be asking the same thing wouldnt they? God damn lol...the lameness, just answer the damn question! If you do find yourself an answer I hope its enough to make all the blind following worth it though...
Wow. Having read this thread down: they're trolling you hard, including a mod. Didn't know discussion of a potentially vast international conspiracy involving the President was something to be immediately shot down in such a free sub as this. The 2016 election has ruined this sub and any sort of civil discourse.
Russia ate a Pretty Patty and it turned their tongue into a nightlight, right? And then they started using the light to read documents detailing how to meddle in a democratic election, okay? And that caused this whole big mess to happen.
I say we find Spongebob and we string him up in the town square to punish him for his crimes against humanity.
Citation needed on Russia benefiting from a Trump presidency...from my perspective Trump's victory has made them into an international bogeyman again for the first time in decades.
Russia's goal for a long time has been to disrupt or break up NATO and drive a wedge between the US and its allies. I would say that have succeeded in that front with the election of a populist, isolationist (or is he?) president.
Pretty sure from a conspiracy point of view Trump is NWO. Members of his administration have mentioned it, and the tax bill is straight up a giveaway to multinational corporations
I love how you become propagator of Russian propaganda, not because you purposely chosen do that, but because you're so easily manipulated, you become an unwitting agent.
Dude, r/politics went BALLASTIC over the NSA revelations by Snowden. It’s the single most damaging aspect of Obama’s presidency to most liberals. You are so wrong so consistently I just don’t get it.
The title seems to be a skewed, biased interpretation on the overall attitude there. Don't get me wrong: there's certainly some jealousy that they aren't the ones in control of such data and anger that only exists when they think it impacts them. However, it's at least a start to get people on the same page against this type of surveillance, rather than keeping us divided and squabbling (as this misleading headline seems to be aiming to do).
FYI, the person who submitted it is a moderator here. That’s what they want to do, is divide the userbase and pretend there isn’t a heavy bias towards daddy trump.
I’ll be banned any minute today because I took op to task.
Care to give examples of r/politics removing news articles that don't break the rules? They have strick rules that they apply equally to both left and right topics.
As far as voting, reddit is a community with the majority of the members young and liberal. That's life. Get over it.
My friends and family are probably 80% Democrat if I had to guess and I’ve literally never once heard someone say something like that. I have one friend that is super out there on the whole race issue in the way that is commonly lambasted on the right, and I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t think he’s a little off his rocker.
If this was instead about Clinton's data mining it would be immediately buried on /r/politics. That's what I have noticed on that sub is things are only bad when Trump does it. Doesn't matter when democrats do the same thing it's just trumpets doing whataboutism trying to distract. I just hope these people realize that the Trump team wasn't the only entity doing all this data farming on people and they should also be outraged at the non-Trump entities farming their data to profile.
Well, yeah, Clinton lost. And as much as /r/politics is full on anti-Trump now, before he was elected the sub was hardly pro-Clinton. If anything it was pro-Bernie and somewhat anti-Trump. It's always been fairly left leaning, though
Does anyone use r/politics that isnt a robot or a paid shill anymore? I stopped going there after it was invaded last year after the DNC nomination (and now we know that it was literally bought)
Anyone who disagrees with me is a shill or robot? Sorry, but I would say it's safe to say that most people there are upset at how the DNC treated Berie. But they are not fanitical about it. They also accept the the DNC was broke and made a deal with the devil in exchange for helping Hillary. Shitty, but not illegal.
Most people there want to see corporate democrats removed and replaced with more Sanders like candates. But you wouldn't know this because you "stopped going there"
That's the time I quit too. Since all real users decided to ignore and check out of r/politics, it was sure nice and thoughtful of CTR/ShareBlue shills to force r/politics on all other reddit subs, including our sub here.
I'm actually a long term redditor - 4 years plus, I had to delete my original account because I had too much personal details related to my political postings, I live in Minnesota, I've lived here my entire life, minus college, and I'm not a bot or a shill or anything of the sort, just a regular person.
This is going to sound pretentious AF, but content creators for fake news have been interviewed since the election and said that by and large fake narratives geared towards liberals were debunked rather than spread around. Also, there isn’t a lot of money to be made by old rich people when endorsing demand side economics, more consumer protections, and a more progressive tax curve so there are fewer billionaires willing to put up money to push those ideas.
This post has been link to topmindsofreddit a sub that harasses and breaks the rules of reddit by downvoting comments from a link put in their posts. I encourage everyone to sub and report activity
I'm just alerting everyone that gets linked so that they are aware. I could care less of context it's the fact they are linking and voting in subs that they aren't participants of, shilling. Everyone should be made aware of the linking abuse that is going on.
Is it ok under reddit's rules to make a thread on r/conspiracy linking to a thread in r/politics with a claim that it demonstrates regulars of that subreddit embrace surveillance?
That's almost as crazy as embracing and cheering on a corrupt billionaire in charge of a branch of the government. But that would never happen, right? Especially the conspiracy theorists types, eh?

Well, yeah, Clinton lost. And as much as /r/politics is full on anti-Trump now, before he was elected the sub was hardly pro-Clinton. If anything it was pro-Bernie and somewhat anti-Trump. It's always been fairly left leaning, though
1 lawofconfusion 2017-12-19
Does anyone use r/politics that isnt a robot or a paid shill anymore? I stopped going there after it was invaded last year after the DNC nomination (and now we know that it was literally bought)
1 watchwhatsnext 2017-12-19
Nope, it’s a shit fest
1 politicalconspiracie 2017-12-19
I use it. They are pretty on top of things when it comes to breaking political news.
1 randomdood81 2017-12-19
Anyone who disagrees with me is a shill or robot? Sorry, but I would say it's safe to say that most people there are upset at how the DNC treated Berie. But they are not fanitical about it. They also accept the the DNC was broke and made a deal with the devil in exchange for helping Hillary. Shitty, but not illegal.
Most people there want to see corporate democrats removed and replaced with more Sanders like candates. But you wouldn't know this because you "stopped going there"

I see, I probably was too biased by the front page. Which to be fair, the front page of r/conspiracy is pretty useless too.
1 thesadpumpkin 2017-12-19
That's the time I quit too. Since all real users decided to ignore and check out of r/politics, it was sure nice and thoughtful of CTR/ShareBlue shills to force r/politics on all other reddit subs, including our sub here.
1 BakingTheCookiesRigh 2017-12-19
The US is psy-oping itself as well. It's a ridiculous game that presumes the US government is good intentioned despite history.
1 HibikiSS 2017-12-19
A lot of the posts in politics are made by shills, but still it makes me angry just how much bullshit the SJW left believes in.
1 Burrito_nap 2017-12-19
How is this /r/politics ‘embracing the surveillance state?’
1 coffeebreak1978 2017-12-19
They're not. I wonder what OPs source is on this? 4chan maybe?
How else do you explain that the comment he is referencing is from a 14 day old account, and all the replies contradict the narrative OP is pushing.
This makes me more suspicious of his push to give the mods more power to censor "political" posts.
1 topp_pott 2017-12-19
I'm actually a long term redditor - 4 years plus, I had to delete my original account because I had too much personal details related to my political postings, I live in Minnesota, I've lived here my entire life, minus college, and I'm not a bot or a shill or anything of the sort, just a regular person.
1 Rufuz42 2017-12-19
This is going to sound pretentious AF, but content creators for fake news have been interviewed since the election and said that by and large fake narratives geared towards liberals were debunked rather than spread around. Also, there isn’t a lot of money to be made by old rich people when endorsing demand side economics, more consumer protections, and a more progressive tax curve so there are fewer billionaires willing to put up money to push those ideas.
1 topp_pott 2017-12-19
That makes sense. That's why we need money out of politics in my opinion.

Damn that title is brutal.
1 buzz-holdin 2017-12-19
This post has been link to topmindsofreddit a sub that harasses and breaks the rules of reddit by downvoting comments from a link put in their posts. I encourage everyone to sub and report activity
1 axolotl_peyotl 2017-12-19
Bingo.

Top comments in this thread criticising it's subject made 4 hours ago. TopMinds post made 1 hour ago.

I'm just alerting everyone that gets linked so that they are aware. I could care less of context it's the fact they are linking and voting in subs that they aren't participants of, shilling. Everyone should be made aware of the linking abuse that is going on.
1 YetAnotherUsername_ 2017-12-19
Is it ok under reddit's rules to make a thread on r/conspiracy linking to a thread in r/politics with a claim that it demonstrates regulars of that subreddit embrace surveillance?
1 buzz-holdin 2017-12-19
No.
1 YetAnotherUsername_ 2017-12-19
Probably a good thing - have just ended up on the weirdest little jaunt through a variety of subreddits after reading this thread.
1 CaptainVerret 2017-12-19
That's almost as crazy as embracing and cheering on a corrupt billionaire in charge of a branch of the government. But that would never happen, right? Especially the conspiracy theorists types, eh?
1 freesp33chisstilldea 2017-12-19
I've seen more people here supporting trumps police state.
1 gomer2566 2017-12-19
Topminds linking to /r/conspiracy "bad"
/r/conspiracy mod doing the same to /r/politics "okay"
So are we birgading /r/politics now?
1 axolotl_peyotl 2017-12-19
I used the "NP" (no participation) link.
TMOR doesn't.
1 axolotl_peyotl 2017-12-19
lost cause.
