They figured out who he was. Don't remember his name, but it's in one of the movies about it. He was wearing a special military issue shoe. They just couldn't charge him, b/c apparently in America, unless it's drug related they don't kick in your doors first.
Yes. When you look into cases like this, even more alarming thing than the actual perpetrator, is how many people out their fit the bill and seem like perfect suspects.
The watch combined with the DNA, as well as the differing descriptions of the killer has always made me believe it was a cult. Claiming the kills were to get slaves for the afterlife? Sounds culty to me.
Jump to page 13 to 17 of the PDF for some interesting insights. He is a true conspiracy theorist, so there will be many moments of knee-jerk rejection you will have to his thesis, and he is a bit of an ego-maniac, but you gotta admit....!
I think the killer was the original Schoolteacher who solved the first Cipher. I came across something that linked his wife's handwriting and statements she made later in life to this theory. Basically, husband and wife were both in on it.
Honestly, I don't, sorry. It was a while ago at the end of a several hour long Zodiac Killer rabbit hole. Try finding out the name of that teacher though and googling that.
Hmm, interesting. There were some solid points in there. Almost a little TOO solid. Do you think the Zodiac would point the finger at himself so obviously though?
Another thing- we know many of the suspects police investigated. Are there any records of the police investigating Donald?
Investigators have a way of ID'ing a suspect outside basic profiling methods. I wonder what additional signature or detail was done at the murder scene or in communication that was withheld to the public. I mean they should release all that info.
Check out zodiackillerfacts.com for a rundown of suspects and evidence.
For those who only read Graysmith's book and watched the movie (which was fantastic by the way, despite getting many facts wrong), it wasn't Arthur Lee Allen. After the books came out, the cops did a DNA test on samples collected from Zodiac mailings and it did not match Allen.

Do you have a source by any chance?

He’s thinking about Arthur Lee Allen, and they never confirmed this. He died many years ago but he has always appeared to be the most likely suspect.

DNA showed it wasn't Allen.

Man, that’s a bummer. I just read your lower comment too. It really seemed to fit this guy.

Possibly this guy, but don't have time to confirm right now.

You're thinking of Arthur Lee Allen, but DNA from Zodiac envelopes didn't match him.

There's a great show about it on the History Channel. Hunting the Zodiac or something.

This is interesting. I’ve never heard this theory before. Do you have a link for this?

Fair enough. I’m gonna do some digging on this and I’ll message you if I find anything. Thanks again.

I think this may be where I fell into the theory. Take it with a grain of salt obviously, but I like this theory a lot.

Here is information about the schoolteacher and his wife:

This site includes some evidence about Donald Harden being the Zodiac Killer:

I think the evidence points towards Arthur Leigh Allen. Here is an interesting documentary to watch:
His Name was Arthur Leigh Allen
These are go-to sites for the investigation:

That is very interesting! I haven't done research on this topic in a long time. Thanks for the info!

It's super interesting. I'm a bit obsessed with this case.
1 brock_lee 2018-01-30
I think there were two or three strong suspects, and it was likely one of them. I just don't think there was ever enough evidence to get a conviction.

This would be a great topic for the next Conspiracy Round Table discussion.
