Can we agree that "The Russians..."

Can we agree that "The Russians didn't go to the moon because they didn't want to be second" is NOT an argument?
Can we also agree that idiots ought to stop plagiarizing and regurgitating this lame argument?

The Russians didn't go to the moon because they couldn't. We (USA) didn't go to the moon either.

this is the correct answer

Yaaay! Do I get a prize? 🙂

As in we can't go to space? Or we can't reliably land a spacecraft on another planet/moon.
1 DonnaGail 2018-02-07
I'm talking about a person going to the moon. I do not think a person has landed on the moon.
A spacecraft has probably been there, but not with a person on board.
1 EnoughNoLibsSpam 2018-02-07
no man made object has ever been to the moon, and no man made object ever will be on the moon
1 DonnaGail 2018-02-07
Okay. You might be right. I haven't researched it enough to know about man made objects. I just know that a real person hasn't been there.

the cold war is theatrics

Why do you suppose the Russians didn't put a man on the moon?
please re-consider the OP before answering
1 Loose-ends 2018-02-07
But of course anyone can now claim that they're going or have been to the Moon but in order to actually disprove or call them out on it the US would have to make a case that none of their own efforts ever measured-up to or satisfied, either.
So they just have to put-up and shut-up about it. In all truth there's virtually no scientific information that existed when the US was supposed to be travelling to the Moon that isn't now known and hasn't been vastly surpassed just about everywhere else on the entire planet.
It's more than likely that all of the various space agencies now exist in countless countries only do so a front to divert substantial amounts of their taxpayers money to far more and secretive "Earthly concerns" without any of their citizenry actually being any the wiser about it.
1 DonnaGail 2018-02-07
Never thought about other countries having fake space agencies like we do (NASA). Guess you are right! Wonder what they are really doing with all that money?
1 Loose-ends 2018-02-07
There isn't a government on the face of the earth that doesn't have more ways to piss away their taxpayers money simply to enrich their cronies and pals in business with not much else to show for it, or not constantly looking for some new and better ways to do more of it.
Just think about how much the US has already blown on it and continues to piss away on it compared to how very little there is to actually show for any of it.
And you could indeed stage and create an impressive and highly convincing array of fakes and hoaxes all of that for a mere fraction of that cost.
1 DonnaGail 2018-02-07
Yes, you are right.

this thread is being down voted by the butt hurt idiots who got called out in the OP
1 DonnaGail 2018-02-07
I never down vote. 🙂

hey what do you mean?
in the 17 years since 9/11 we have developed an opiod epidemic, and our bridges are crumbing nicely
1 LeftOfTheDials 2018-02-07
The whole space race was just the public front for ICBM testing and other weaponary testing/investigation etc. Most of it was pure bread and circuses.
1 EnoughNoLibsSpam 2018-02-07
its always amusing to watch the charlatans discuss how easy it is to go to the moon, as if they have personally done it

He is just an attention seeking troll. This never warranted a repost as its the same shit as yesterday and I believe that should be against the rules. He is intentionally baiting. I am also thinking he is using this as a tactic to try to draw other people to his own conspiracy subbreddit that had zero engagement until today when he posted a thread of all the butt hurt he supposedly caused here with his incessantly spammed list of shit. It's the first post I've seen with any comments ever. He is truly pathetic.

evidently reading for comprehension isn't your strong suit?
nothing to be ashamed of, lots of people are functionally illiterate
I'm a troll for calling out idiots for plagiarizing and regurgitating lame arguments, instead of using your brain?
its not the same as yesterday. if you were actually capable of reading for comprehension, you wouldn't have made this factually incorrect comment
"baiting" by preemptively mocking your plagiarized talking points?
are you ever going to get around to addressing the OP?
why haven't the Russians put a man on the moon?

You just post the same shit over and over again that when ever I see your name I know there is no need to read the post as once someone does give you answers you miraculously dissapear and put your head in the sand. May be you should ponder this thought and wonder why no one takes you seriously.
1 EnoughNoLibsSpam 2018-02-07
care to address the OP?
why didn't the Russians ever put a man on the moon?
why hasn't any other country ever put a man on the moon?

It seems that conversation was memorable, at least. :)
interested in another physics talk sometime?
1 EnoughNoLibsSpam 2018-02-07
sure thing! now that you have had 2 more years to think about it, has your mind changed at all?
I've had to update my thinking in light of new facts
1 Roarian 2018-02-07
Regarding physics? Most of the physics principles I used there have been on the books for decades or centuries, and it's not looking like they're budging yet. Maybe this year? -^
Regarding other things, sure, I've learned plenty!
1 EnoughNoLibsSpam 2018-02-07
yes regarding physics
for example, i put that the mass of the Moon was about 1/6 the mass of the Earth,
and other observers say that its somewhere between 1/80 and 1/100, depending on the source
so while that may make some aspects of the journey more easy, it would make other aspects more difficult
the moon landing hoax is going to bring down the credibility of the establishment. there is a reason this scandal just won't go away, regardless of how many times the charlatans point to the rocket equation (which only applies in space, and not on earth)
heres some other things I've learned, in case you missed it...
https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/7mqgeu/boston_marathon_bombing_red_pill/
1 Roarian 2018-02-07
Well, gravity is about 1/6th of Earth's, so that is probably where the confusion came in there. Mass and surface gravity don't scale linearly.
Also the rocket equation can be used for launches from Earth too, you just have to include the losses from gravity & drag ahead of time. Basically it just means that your delta-V is gonna be significantly higher than it would be.

would you mind sharing the evidence that stands out in your mind when you think of the evidence that convinced you that men walked on the moon?
i must have grown up in a strange era, because the only thing i was shown was about a page of text and some photographs in a 7th grade textbook
looking back, its embarrassing that i believed it, considering how weak the evidence was that i was presented with
1 Roarian 2018-02-07
I mean, if you don't look into it at all, you're not likely to be presented with a lot of evidence for something that happened nearly fifty years ago. But I think even you are aware there is more information than a page of text and a few photographs in a 7th grade textbook.
For example, regarding pictures, there is this. Every famous picture is in there somewhere, alongside thousands that aren't commonly seen, including washed out and poorly framed ones. That alone puts a crimp in a lot of conspiracy arguments which rely on photographic anomalies, since you can cross-reference a lot of things between photos. I've used them once or twice to answer arguments here on Reddit, though I don't think you were involved.
As for text, there are of course entire textbooks written about the Apollo Program and all that surrounds it - personally I favour pre-Apollo missions like the Mercury or Gemini projects, but they all share a lot in common, including a fair amount of technological overlap (as one might expect.) NASA itself has a list which includes technical manuals, memoirs, popular science coverage and critique.
Aside from that, of course, the physics of the stated method of going to the Moon can be analyzed - if the plan does not conform to known natural principles that can be tested, it can't have happened. Of course, if it does conform, that also means it could have been done - the Saturn V rocket certainly existed! A lot of the more entertaining discussions on space conspiracies in general tend to fall into this category. The layman very rarely has any grasp on physics outside their immediate 1g earthside comfort zone.
