Creepy voicemail left message and numbers?
185 2018-03-15 by TechVikings
Hey guys I need your help. Basically this person was left a voicemail. It left a series of words and numbers and more words. https://twitter.com/strayedaway/status/973604056005570560?s=21 here is the voicemail to listen to. After he posted it live to Twitter this week an unknown user from Malaysia told him to remove the tweet. He provided screenshot proof and username to. After getting through the simple message it came down to something along the lines of “SOS danger the situation is dire they are not human danger (the string of numbers here) ”. Which of course seems like a very troll post. But after googling the numbers it turns out their coordinates are in Malaysia, and not just that but also a tourist attraction. Now checking his post history last week he posted about when he was in his car there were people taking pictures of his house with the flash on (this is all days before he got the voicemail). There’s a whole lot to this puzzle and not quite sure but hoping someone can look into and help. The “not human” piece seems very childish. Although googling the numbers in a string I found right away a DNA genome strand and test data. Here is what I found. It seems to be way over my head and from someone named “Yong Quian”. Anyone know what’s going on?!?!
Edit: full voicemail transcript: sierra delta alpha november golf echo romeo sierra oscar sierra india tango india sierra delta india romeo echo foxtrot oscar romeo yankee oscar uniform tango oscar echo victor alpha charlie uniform alpha tango echo bravo echo charlie alpha uniform tango india oscar uniform sierra tango hotel echo yankee alpha romeo echo november oscar tango hotel uniform mike alpha november 042933964230 sierra oscar sierra delta alpha november golf echo romeo sierra oscar sierra
Edit 2: here is the tweet from the Malaysian user. When you try to search his account username in twitter you CAN find him, but shows “This user is currently restricted due to unusual behavior”.
TLDR: Weird voicemail leaves almost a joke of a threat. Decoding the numbers leads to Malaysian location and DNA Genome testing though. Anonymous users from Malaysia are telling us to take down these posts.

UPDATE: the guy who posted the voice mail has his twitter deactivated. You can search up his page (@ strayedaway) and it says 'this page doesn't exist'. His profile pic is still there though so i think he just deactivated to fuck with his followers but i dunno i could be wrong. Any ideas?

also i wanna say that i searched him on on instagram and his account is on private but i took a screenshot of the info it shows (his posts, and following) and ill keep monitoring his account for now to see if anything comes up. Also ill try requesting to follow him on my other account.

If you scroll through the top replies here, some guy said it's his friend and he has a link to a bit of conversation with the OP before he deactivated. Apparently he deactivated because he's been getting coded messages from bots non-stop, and he's not handling it well. He's ok, just spooked as fuck

Searching on google for the Missing flight pulled up articles that someone has found the plane on google earth. I have found his Facebook and the status he posted about it. https://www.facebook.com/peter.mcmahon.3367/posts/1761420023949067

I pulled it up on Google Maps. Doesn't look like it's moved too far over. Sure as hell looks like a cockpit and plane cabin.

I'm new to this Reddit thing but since I seen this story going around I thought I would share the fact that I have also received werid voicemails. 3 to be exact all from different numbers each the same message but in another language also sounds like code I'm looking for help to translate, or to find out what language it is. I've posted the video to my instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BgYu3nuA--B/

Interesting that these so-called coordinates are remarkably close to the city of Medan. There's an old, creepy sea legend of a ship called the Ourang Medan that is very similar to this modern day saga. Short version, a ship called the Silver Star receives an SOS morse coded message from a nearby ship called the Ourang Medan with a similar message. They go to investigate the ship and find the crew all dead. I'm wondering if this is a modern homage, and the creator put the coordinates there as a sly wink.

Please update us if any new info is found - I'd love to see where this leads

He claims he had people come in front of his house at 3 am and take pictures too
1 TechVikings 2018-03-15
Yeah this was 3 days before he got the voicemail (since we can see the timestamp and on 4chan he proved the dates). Super eerie.
1 Pidjesus 2018-03-15
My own theory is that the plane was used as an experiment for dimension/time travel and the people onboard saw something ET, sort of like the Philly experiment theory
1 RAGERRABBITDJ 2018-03-15
That was my thought when I first read the post. Some strange time warp / dimensional travel and maybe the message back could be associated with the solar flare?
And “the evacuate, they are not human” is them trying to have us follow the coordinates into the right parallel. (my overly conspiratorial theory)

Or more likely OP is probably just looking for attention

I have a friend who works at a property management company. His sole job is to take pictures of properties. He often does it at night, because in the past during daytime people have reported him to the police (wouldn't you?).
1 TransAmConnor 2018-03-15
Can I ask why he takes the pictures of them? May sound like a stupid question, but I can't see what reason it would be for unless it was for a house sale. In that case they'd have the owners consent to do so, and would do it during the day surely?
1 thejessss 2018-03-15
The property management company typically agrees with the owner of the house to do quarterly checks.
1 Cosmophilia 2018-03-15
Often times it's for insurance purposes too. Insurance companies hire photographers to take pictures of homes looking for estimates so they don't have to go out themselves and tour the house.
Source: I work for a company that processes said images/pictures for insurance claims.

You're getting trolled on the Malaysian thing no doubt. So was that guy on Twitter. It has actually happened on this sub before. The coords are interesting and I cannot find HD imagery of the coords that would show anything wrong with the area. Just uninhabited forest near the top of a hill. As for the genome can you be more specific? How did you get from the coords to Yong Qian?
1 TechVikings 2018-03-15
The twitter user is on 4chan and proved himself sending more information from a screenshot of his voicemail records. We’re digging deeper there and they’ve seemed to have gotten a lot farther than me. Not much need for this post anymore.

Any way to sum up the 4chan data? Not everyone can use 4chan.
1 TechVikings 2018-03-15
Dozens have come forward. We've pretty much crossed off the planes black box. If it did go down and this was the last recorded message it wouldn't be delayed 2 years in time nor sent to some new yorkers cell. So the whole missing plane thing can be forgotten. Right now were on contacting the provider of the Genome testing (Yong Quian) and going to 3 different locations the number sequence can bring us to. Also what China would have to do with any of this. It's probably some poor attempt at a scare with to many loose ends to be taken seriously.
1 truckerai 2018-03-15
Wife and I are super curious and I have no clue how to navigate 4chan safely, so is there an ongoing conversation about this you can link me to?
1 TechVikings 2018-03-15
4chan is just a website like Reddit only with less restrictions. This includes Ads, so advertisements are often porn sites. Otherwise you’re safe to look at anything! You can browse and look all you want and don’t have to worry about anything unless you create threads. Here’s the link to specific thread on this mystery. http://boards.4chan.org/x/thread/20474829/hey-x

I found this post from doing a little research after seeing the original tweet with the voicemail. I'm fairly certain it is a troll after looking into it. That number is either coordinates, phone number, or digits to make the voicemail sound more legit.
As for Yong Qian, he's a researcher for the National Institute of Aging and that test you linked is nothing more than the genome sequencing of a mouse.

1 TechVikings 2018-03-15
Correct, military photonic. Although the voicemail reads “nine” instead of “niner” so not to be confused with “five”. Thought nine ris correct, so we’re sensing a hoax here over at 4chan were diggin deeper.

In addition to the "niner" the 3 should be pronounced as "tree". However being a text to speech program one may not think to phonetically spell that out.
1 Askmenothingok 2018-03-15
It’s sometimes pronounced that way. The recording reminds me of number stations recordings I used to be really interetesed in!
1 DuckwingDarksauce 2018-03-15
It wasn't spoken, niner and tree are for radio communications.

0 alou87 2018-03-15
NATO code? Do you mean the phonetic alphabet?😂😂😂
1 CodeReaper 2018-03-15
Yes, for some reason it's stuck in my head as "NATO code" instead of "military phonetic alphabet" and I honestly don't remember why.
1 ibtar 2018-03-15
Which tourist attraction?
1 LM-entertainment 2018-03-15
it's most probably part of a "wangiri scam" - which is where a person with an unknown number either leaves a voicemail with a phone number to call back.. or has a known number and leaves no voicemail and just rings and hangs up. the idea behind the scam is that the phone number is a premium number which charges a large amount to your phone bill per minute - so the object is to get you to call the number and stay on the line for as long as possible. with a voicemail such as the one left "SOS DANGER" etc it's trying to entice the person to call the number. the problem here is the number called is an international number, so if they were genuinely in an emergency situation they'd call a local number, not some random international one. it's possible the phone number left is also wrong and an additional digit has been left.
if it's not a wangiri scam, then it's just bizarre.
1 40ozdabs 2018-03-15
This was a great explanation in my opinion so far. Where can I read more about these scams and others?
1 LM-entertainment 2018-03-15
if you just google “wangiri scam” or “wangiri fraud” there’s heaps of info on it. it’s been a common thing in australia with a lot of other countries - there’s lots of variations.

1 DARREN_CX3 2018-03-15
It's coordinates
1 LM-entertainment 2018-03-15
yeah - but depending on what country the call originated from it may need an international country code. if it is coordinates.. obviously its been sent to the wrong person - a teenager in the US. regardless of if its a phone number or coordinates, its a stuff-up on the callers part. or he created the voicemail himself hoping it goes viral.. and it’s beginning to work.
1 whiterungaurd 2018-03-15

how does this convert into "SOS danger the situation is dire they are not human danger (the string of numbers here)"????
1 azullana1 2018-03-15
Take the first letter of every word. Also look up NATO phonetic alphabet.
1 Zerophobe 2018-03-15
Of hundreds of code systems someone already knew it was NATO code?
or maybe he wrote it..
1 Detached09 2018-03-15
You're not wrong to be skeptical, but if this is a legitimate sos message from a vessel either air or waterborne it would make sense it is in NATO code. NATO code is basically universal for clear, definite, messages. Pilots, military, and (I think) ship captains are generally required to know English and NATO if they operate in international waters or airspace. Sierra Oscar Sierra has been a thing as long as at least the time of the Titanic, and it was an automatic reaction then, so probably already codified or at least tradition years before.
Even as an enemy combatant I'd rather yell SIERRA OSCAR SIERRA than AYUDAME, HILF MICH, or any other foreign code in an emergency.
1 vir_ursa_porcus 2018-03-15
The international code for emergency distress is not NATO phonetic. It's not even in English. Mayday is derived from a french word, and it's repeated three times.
1 OxyScotton 2018-03-15
It's also US military phonetic alphabet. Had you ever played a Call of Duty campaign, you would know the code.
1 OptimalDelusion 2018-03-15
wtf dude this phonetic alphabet is the most known alphabet. I recognized it straight away and thus this makes me feel it's only a bad attempt at a hoax.

You guys I got this phone call months ago and picked up and I had completely forgotten about it until I heard the female voice and "oscar." That's when it hit me. When I got this call I turned to my friends and told them it was justa a recording reading off peoples' names. That's what I thought it was although I did consider it weird to be repetitive I never thought about it again until now. I'm covered in chills rn.
1 LazloTheGame 2018-03-15
Proof or bullshit.
1 perlucidus 2018-03-15
I never post on reddit, you can check. This is not to get upvotes I'm sharing this in fear. I texted someone who was with me when I first saw this asking if they remembered me telling them about a call of an automated voice listing off names but they only said "maybe." The reason I thought so is I picked up on Sierra Oscar Sierra but she pauses in between so I heard Sierra, Oscar, Sierra like a list and hung up when I got to the numbers without paying attention. My guess is much of the general public probably got a call from an unknown number and reacted the same, because it's not meant for us, nobody would think of NATO without seeing it in print. If it was to scare the public they would have said something in black and white. If it was to get a call back for money it wouldn't be an unknown number. It's on repeat, it's a broadcast, it's not even a normal automated call. The resource OP listed about the DNA is an analysis of 3D printing synthetic nucleotides in the genes of an aligent mouse. Aligent mice are what's used in stem cell research and biological development, and it's no secret that we are engineering synthetic RNA, the info is available online through multiple research universities that we've already created two entirely new, successful, synthetic and never before seen in biology letters in addition to ACTG. We can already officially program dna to do unnatural things by simply changing the code that it uses to develop and copy. This message is scaring me because I have no doubt we've experimented with programming human genomes the same way, I mean that's WHY we do it to mice, and I can't find the motivation for fraudulency in this warning. When I heard that voice again my entire body erupted in chills. Take it or leave it but I'm already studying aerospace engineering and astrophysics to eventually build a space shuttle and get the hell out of here anyway so it doesn't change much for me but the more of us who come, the better chance we have to evolve.

1 Lace_and_gingersnaps 2018-03-15

1 harmonystyron 2018-03-15
My comment got deleted because I used a new account instead of my old one but I’m reposting. When I looked up the coordinates, Estuaire showed up, which seems to be on the coast of Africa. What’s interesting though, is they found debris that was confirmed to be from the Malaysian 370 Flight on the coast of Africa. Though I’m not sure if the debris was found near Estuaire, it makes sense that the coordinates would lead there if they were found in Estuaire. Also, an oceanographer suggests that Malaysian flight 370 could be preserved underwater similar to Air France flight 447. http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2018/01/26/mh370-remains-may-be-preserved-underwater-says-oceanographer/
So if the discovered debris wasn’t found in Estuiare, maybe the whole plane is preserved underwater like the oceanographer suggested, but near Estuiare? It seems like there are all different interpretations of the coordinates, but they all seem to fit together, strangely, to Flight 370. North Sumatran, Africa, Malaysia. They can all be connected to the plane crash. Maybe the specific numerical string was to convey the multiple different coordinates on purpose ? I’m sort of stumped with this whole thing, what do you guys think?
1 cyphras 2018-03-15
About Malaysia, in the past hours a video surfaced of a creature found on the road there, perhaps this relates to the “they are not human” part of the message.
Sauce: https://youtu.be/puHVO5TcCBQ
1 frostfromfire 2018-03-15
You sure that’s a creature? It honestly looks like a fawn.
1 cyphras 2018-03-15
tbh I can’t see it well, but I thought I’d mention it just in case
1 DiceMorgansGhost 2018-03-15
I think this is a year old and supposedly there's a better video online somewhere that shows it to be a naked woman. Don't have a link though.
1 cyphras 2018-03-15
That’s a fast naked woman... But maybe you’re right

Looks like wallaby or a small kangaroo honestly. They're fast creators and could be someone's lost pet.
1 cloudwarmer 2018-03-15
wallabys and kangaroos hop/jump, they don't run.
1 Raininsan 2018-03-15
FYI, it's believed to be primitive tribe called Mante who lives in the hinterland of Aceh wilderness. They're only one meter tall. And local community believed they already extinct long time ago. Last seen on 1987 in Aceh. And I dont think they relate to this puzzle :/
1 iamkeegs 2018-03-15
It’s about the 1 year anniversary of the sighting though... Along with just a week or two ago the anniversary of Malaysian airlines Not to reach too far but maybe the mante wanted to be left alone and when they were discovered they started terrorizing the people of Malaysia in te Aceh area. They figured American people had a better chance of helping them than local forces? Just a thought.
1 saxopreme 2018-03-15
Easily fake. Look at before the guy's bike falls over. Camera pans down, then pans back up. He just magically appeared out of nowhere. Simple CGI.
1 Loostie 2018-03-15
That's actually a repost of an older video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDmFZzELF7Q
You still can't really tell what the creature is, but the video's almost a year old, so it doesn't correlate with the voicemail
1 Xanbars 2018-03-15
All though this is a convincing story, it is however, pretty fake or coincidental. A distress signal would have no way to be intercepted by a piece of equipment such as a cell phone. A cellphone has no way of intercepting or decoding a message in such capacity as it is not a radio capable device to receive such a message. I am no expert but by basic knowledge of how specific devices are connected, one cannot receive a voice mail out of the blue like this. The message seems wayyyyyy too bunk and the numbers seem too good to be true, the message from the twitter user would be sent as Malay alphabet, not translated into english letters. It is a cool theory but highly doubt anything to come of this. It seems like a hoax. Too many holes in the story from getting a voicemail somehow via radio frequency, the photos being taken of him inside his home (no proof of it), and the latitude/longitude numbers, I looked up Malaysian phone number sequences but they have 8 digits excluding the +04 at the start, this sequence has 12 digits with an 04 starting at the front, it would be Malaysian.
2 lunagrimm 2018-03-15
I don’t know how relevant this is or not, but I’ve been on this twitter feed and have taken it upon myself to look up a bit more, and he’s not the only one that has gotten a voicemail like this. And they haven’t gotten it in the same format if you get what I mean. What I find interesting is that none of these people have a connection to each other and they are just as equally freaked out.

1 vale-tudo 2018-03-15
Or maybe it's a partial message. SOS DANGER SOS, could just be the overlap. But who the hell uses the word "Dire"? Also You don't usually use the phonetic alphabet to send words. Most grunt aren't great at spelling You use it for abbreviation, A-Team style Alpha Mike Foxtrot

So forgive me if this sounds incredibly stupid but I showed this to a friend of mine who said the voicemail sounds eerily like one of transmissions they received in the show LOST.
I never watched the show. Can anyone investigate this?

YES! It does so much.

Have you heard a message similar to this? The theory was that they copied it.
1 tawny27 2018-03-15
I need to sleep tonight so like this is fake right?!?
1 Matthewseagod 2018-03-15
Ok, this is gonna sound dumb but here's what I did. I transferred the numbers as a hex code into text I get this: )3B0 . nothing much right. so I instead transferred it as text TO hex and got this: 30 34 32 39 33 33 39 36 34 32 33 30. Again gibberish? now just take the numbers as they are don't let them repeat. and you get 30 34 32 39 33 36. they are coordinates. I may have done this wrong but, tyr it yourselves.
1 sharanski 2018-03-15
checked and those coordinates lead to a desert in saudi arabia

1 yayoglitter 2018-03-15
I was really into these conspiracy theories but then I started thinking and literally nothing makes sense. (i know most conspiracies dont but hear me out) It just doesn't make sense for the fact that the voice mail isn't really a voice mail because it was 'transmitted' from something sounding like a looped radio. How does that message call in the first place? I saw a lot of lack box conspiracies but yeah, a black box is just going to make an outgoing call to a random guy. I saw some other conspiracies on solar flares but I feel like that still doesn't explain things all the way. I'll be honest, what you guys found is really interesting with the flights and the coordinates, it almost fits perfectly that it kinda ties in with everything. That also leads me to believe it's just a hoax because the dm he received on twitter was an indonesian man/woman? The coordinates also go into indonesia. Coincidence? I also wanna add that the "they are not human" is a little dramatic but that might just be me. I just think that this might be a well thought out plan for this guy to become 'twitter famous'. Unless one of his friends decided to prank him because a friend would know his ohone number, twitter, and where he lives which would explain why he saw someone taking pictures of his house. ALSO i wanna point out, if this is real, and someone was really taking pictures of his house, how does any of that tie into this. Like i know its weird and all but think about it, someone takes pictures of his house, he receives a strange voice mail and gets a weird dm. W.H.Y? Am I supposed to believe that hes a 'chosen' one or something? Maybe he's being monitored? Who knows. I'm still going to keep researching on more theories though but keep me updated.
1 Spugez 2018-03-15
" I saw a lot of black box conspiracies but yeah, a black box is just going to make an outgoing call to a random guy."
Regarding this, there's theories about the plane entering a "time rift" or different dimension.
Imagine the plane vanished in 2014 then re-entered 2018 with little to no time changed to the people on the planet. Maybe the sender wasn't aware of the 4 years difference and sent it to that number, thinking it was someone else.
It's not unusual for phone companies to recycle old phone numbers after about a month or so a phone is deactivated...
So he could be a "random guy" that got a phone number of someone that was "important".
Now also imagine YOU randomly got the voicemail, bring it online for answers and everyone asking "what makes you the chosen one?" and you're like "I DON'T KNOW, THAT'S WHY I POSTED IT TO FIND OUT"
1 yayoglitter 2018-03-15

I dont see any reason for this dude to be making these things up just considering his past posts...
1 yayoglitter 2018-03-15
unless it was all a publicity stunt he planned...who even knows but i hope we find out soon
1 Q1123 2018-03-15
I briefly skimmed through past posts when another person suggested he was part of a marketing team, neither that nor him specifically trying to pull a hoax seems like it matches up with his twitter history.
I am still leaning toward it being a marketing campaign though.
1 jwsmythe 2018-03-15
The first time I read the number string, I saw the zeroes as delimiters Swapping each for NS/EW gives 4 possibilities, with one in the US. On TV, it seems pretty common to ignore the direction. I'd think a real gov't message would have it right. Someone doing a viral hoax wouldn't necessarily get it right.

I saw somewhere that the voicemail was similiar to "transmissions" on the show Lost. Can anyone talk about this or provide a link? There's a show called "Lost in Transmission " that fucks up the Google search
1 72skidoo 2018-03-15
Not really that similar. In Lost, the transmissions were in French and recorded by a woman on the island years before. Both messages are creepy and imply that something awful has happened, but other than that there aren’t many similarities.
1 DiceMorgansGhost 2018-03-15
Thanks bubba
1 pinkxpineapple 2018-03-15
On LOST the transmission is in french and the woman speaks her distress call and then a mechanical male voice says “iteration” and a bunch of numbers. As the message repeats, the characters realize the numbers at the end are going up meaning it’s counting how many times the distress call has looped

1 Vengfultyrant45 2018-03-15
Why don’t black boxes have gps trackers inside of them? Even if they only last for a few days after the crash (due to limit power source)
1 jawm00se 2018-03-15
Because transmitting through water is practically impossible. They already have beacons inside of them which do work for around a month.
1 Vengfultyrant45 2018-03-15
Makes sense I feel like such an idiot
1 jawm00se 2018-03-15
Nah don’t, it’s not necessarily intuitive. It’s also usually not an issue because usually there’s transponder and primary/secondary radar traces to operate off of which narrows things considerably to “a few square kilometres” rather than “an entire fucking ocean”.
1 thecasualguy911 2018-03-15
Hello guys, new here, read through the whole thread and I have an idea. I am pretty sure that air traffic info is publicly available. Civilian aircraft is usually not allowed to fly over military bases, disturbances ir any other kind of stuff like that for as far as I know. Somebody could check on whether there may be air traffic gaps over the locations you proposed.

1 jwsmythe 2018-03-15
Numbers stations aren't generally as easy to decode. They'd need a codebook or something to decipher the message.
