Google removed conspiracy subreddit from my non-logged in results. People can say what they want but Google has been actively moving to filter out non establishment material.

May 17th 2018 ran two searches:
'reddit conspiracy' & then 'conspiracy reddit'.
NO results in first two pages.

I more inclined to think the whole fake news agenda, is being used against us two fold. Now we have algorithms to protect the masses from this stuff. By allowing so much of it to be pushed here, this place will be stripped of its seo purpose.

It's the 2nd link for me. Signed in and out.
1 axolotl_peyotl 2018-05-18
That's probably cuz you like live here...
1 fridaymonkeyk 2018-05-18
I am here daily & almost always go to google to have it auto suggest me this subreddit.

Even when signed out??

The censorship has gotten worse. it is difficult to find a search engine that doesn't engage in censorship and shadow banning. The top three search engines are mainly Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo. There used to be others trying to create their own search engines and directories like DMOZ but they have gone down under now. Many Web Directories have kinda started to sink under and it is difficult to find a quality directory that doesn't have spam, maybe i am wrong on that but who knows. It has become like a monopoly or duopoly or trippoly. A very tiny number of private corporations can dictate what we see in search results thus can be the ones that decide who gets to be elected to President and Congress because they can censor what they don't like and essentially can game an election process.
So that means only special political candidates that Google approves of will ever be a Government official. Nobody who wants to be independent will ever win. The private corporations can dictate and manipulate who becomes President, a Congressperson, a Senator, a Federal Judge. They can now dictate our Government and policies by the manipulation of their algorithms. Now that is the "Russian Collusion" that they are accusing Trump of. It is a handful of private corporations, FBI Agent Mueller, and other corrupt SWAMP creatures that are sabotaging and manipulating the United States elections. It isn't really Russia and neither is it Trump but a handful of corporations decide and manipulate as to who may become the next newly elected politician.

Best comment for me. 2016 Google's results for Clinton & Trump were all mostly positive or minor negative Google news top results.
If you were Bernie Sanders you had major negative Google news results in the top results constantly from major 'news' organizations even though he had multiple mile lines of people cross country trying to get into his filled to capacity rallies.
1 MM_mm12 2018-05-18
wiped my cache on fire fox, Searched "reddit conspiracy". Nothing, notta, then I put a r in the middle(reddit r conspiracy) and, BAM, first result.
This is why I use duckduckgo, start page, or privetlee.
1 MikeTheCunt 2018-05-18
Same results for StartPage, back to DDG as default
1 BigPharmaSucks 2018-05-18
Searx.me is a good alternative as well
1 FaThLi 2018-05-18
I looked up "conspiracy subreddit" and it was my first result. Putting it in as "reddit conspiracy" makes it seem like there is some conspiracy **about** reddit versus just looking for the subreddit.
1 Jackzill4Raps 2018-05-18
That's literally the worst excuse, come on
1 Evilcampincalf 2018-05-18
No, that's how the search engine works...
1 FaThLi 2018-05-18
That's not an excuse that is just how I see it working. There has been several times I've had to reword my searches to find what I want lately. I don't know if it is because they changed something or not, but I never really needed to before.
1 zonkerton 2018-05-18
Is that why a Finland conspiracy subreddit shows up first? Lol
1 FaThLi 2018-05-18
Weirdly enough that subreddit wasn't the first for me, but it is now. Point still stands though. If you word something weirdly don't be surprised when you get weird results. Like "reddit conspiracy" where it is going to make the search engine look for a conspiracy about reddit versus "conspiracy subreddit" where it is going to look for subreddits with conspiracy in the name. I get different results when I switch the words in my search as well.
1 01314150 2018-05-18
Bright idea: We make a "reddit conspiracy" and put it in reddit.com/r/conspiracy
1 narnou 2018-05-18
You have to understand that, as every modern product, Google is tailored for the masses.
The masses are not considering conspiracy theories reliable, usually mocking them.
For this sole reason, it's in Google interests to not show those results, especially as top ones, because it would actually hurt their credibility as seen by the average joe.
It's not a conspiracy, it's systemic. It's just capitalism collateral damage.
1 whatdidusaybro 2018-05-18
how about personalized results? many of these search engines brag about their personalized results, showing you the most interesting things for you
but except r conspiracy?
1 narnou 2018-05-18
1 aetheradept 2018-05-18
What the hell. Everybody here knows thats not what is going on. Also the vast majority of people now believe in conspiracies. Times have changed. We have pretty much had decades of presidents that refuse to even mention things people care about like campaign finance reform, reinstating of the 4th amendmemt, and other political parties being allowed into debates.
1 IanPhlegming 2018-05-18
That is most absolutely NOT what is going on.
1 fridaymonkeyk 2018-05-18
Oh give me a fkn break mommy.

1 BokehClasses 2018-05-18
I wonder who runs google?
Could it be the same tribe of people that also control much of the arts, media, education and economy?
1 cl0bro 2018-05-18
I never post here.. but frequently visit r/conspiracy while I enjoy my morning coffee and noticed that it was removed from my results as well... And when I search it.. the Finland conspiracy subreddit would show up... So I'm not crazy after all.. thanks guys!
1 IanPhlegming 2018-05-18
Yup. My experience exactly. I got the Finland conspiracy #1 all the time.
1 BERNIE2020ftw 2018-05-18
same
1 CookasauRUSS 2018-05-18
Type /r/conspiracy
Its the very first result.
1 fridaymonkeyk 2018-05-18
I think the point would be was that you didn't have to type it so explicitly in google before. Google would autosuggest it & it was always the top results BUT now it's Finland conspiracy.
Cmon...... if I can type out '/r/conspiracy into google I might as well type the rest into the url bar & just go directly there.
1 CookasauRUSS 2018-05-18
Or you're trying to force a narrative that this sub is being censored from search results when it isnt.
1 jennychan_fla 2018-05-18
Yes, this sub is penalized for spreading fake news and hate speech.
1 IanPhlegming 2018-05-18
LOL. Back to the fluoride pits for you, sheepizen.
1 TiggazWitCatitudes 2018-05-18
And yet white supremacy and news propaganda site searches come up just fine. This sub has been targeted for the same reason Julian Assange has. It's a matter of convenience to the establishment to say "while we're campaigning against the misinformation machine with public support and an underlying sense of legitimacy, let's throw a few "undesirables" on the train car to Auschwitz as well."
1 RMFN 2018-05-18
The goyim know...
1 BrokenAdmin 2018-05-18
It's well known that Google filters our search results - Google also does this with any Right-Wing material generally. They do whatever the hell they feel due to the aspect of being a Private Companyn
1 Cptn_Canada 2018-05-18
" Conspiracy Reddit " 2nd result on Google for me.
1 Da_llluminati 2018-05-18
maaaaaaaaybe it's got something to do with all those "stop using Google/YT/whatever" posts
1 fortfive 2018-05-18
So I was coming here to say this was stupid, but then I played with a little, and came to the conclusion that google must be artificially suppressing /r/conspiracy because of it's controversial nature, and I think that's not cool.
Also is the finlandconspiracy a joke or something like flatearth? And more importantly, why is it the top result? Is that a subtle disinformation technique to continue to foster the widespread notion that all conspiracies are ridiculous?
Disappointing stuff from google.
1 cryo 2018-05-18
Yeah that’s your problem right there. Jumping to conclusions. Ignoring all the other possible explanations.
1 Desertcyclone23 2018-05-18
Definitely no-brainer. Ditch Google and make a simple and nearly equally effective switch to DuckDuckGo. Google is getting out of hand.
1 rrab 2018-05-18
There's a Wikileaks article about how Google's filtering algorithms have reduced traffic to left-leaning and anti-establishment sites by 70% over the past year.
This should be deeply troubling to anyone still using Google as their primary search engine -- immediately start using DuckDuckGo or another alternative.
1 SomeoneLikeYouToo 2018-05-18
What a world we live in... now you have to explicitly ask to hear another side of a story. It used to be the case that people would enjoy hearing different views on a particular topic, and then use their own judgement along with further research, but now that's just all too "upsetting" according to the G-Men.
1 rrab 2018-05-18
The "upsetting" wording is really telling. Users of their services are being steered away from points of view that Google deems so jarring and unpopular, that they aren't even shown whatsoever. Causing cognitive dissonance equals micro aggression? I'm still stunned that a tech giant is catering to easily offended simpletons.
How did this happen? Did an executive meeting come to the conclusion that returning opposing viewpoints in search results, causes a user to react by using their services less, and therefore generates less advertising revenue?
1 SomeoneLikeYouToo 2018-05-18
Probably. I wouldn't doubt that at all.
2010: Facebook experimented on people, trying to get them to vote
2014: Facebook again conducted a human experiment, trying to make people feel sad or happy
Those are human experiments (isn't that illegal?) done by Facebook, but I'm sure Google is doing the same and they're just better at keeping quiet about it.
I just did a quick search "google experiments on users" and 8 of the top 10 results are about the Facebook experiments...
1 rrab 2018-05-18
Seems like two sides of the same coin -- where Facebook is psychologically manipulating people through news feed filtering, Google is manipulating the political narrative through search filtering.
1 shadowofashadow 2018-05-18
And the same people who cry about "net neutrality" will say that Google is a private company and can do whatever the want.
They don't give a fuck about net neutrality, they just got on the bandwagon because facebook and twitter said it was what the cool people were doing.
1 fjortisar 2018-05-18
That has nothing to do with net neutrality.
Net neutrality would be your ISP blocking reddit and making you go to the "Time Warner News & Comment Blog Site" instead
1 shadowofashadow 2018-05-18
Maybe not the "net neutrality" that is popular in the news right now but this is absolutely a net neutrality issue.
1 hersh123123 2018-05-18
I noticed this a few weeks ago
1 GlennDames 2018-05-18
The censorship and misinformation is also rampant on Twitter and Wikipedia. Proof regarding Wikipedia is here:

1 fridaymonkeyk 2018-05-18
Thanks for that link.
1 fjortisar 2018-05-18
How many of you are going to google every day and visiting subreddits by searching and clicking on the links? I thought only tech illiterate grandmas did that. Don't do that, you're basically giving whatever search engine you use your browsing history
1 fridaymonkeyk 2018-05-18
People do that shit on their phones all of the time. I'm sure your little nerd self has a perfectly manicured bookmark list & uses autosuggest plus memorized all the urls of taylorswift.com that you visit everyday.
What a hero you are.......
1 fjortisar 2018-05-18
I don't really use bookmarks, sometimes I make them but never go back to it. My bookmarks are a mess. But most people visit the same sites every day and every modern browser will autofill in sites based on visiting frequency
Is it harder to type "re <enter>" in the address bar than to go to google.com type in "reddit r consipracy" press enter and click on the link?
1 undesirabledesires 2018-05-18
I've been waiting for someone to make a post like this. I usually get to this sub by googling "conspiracy reddit", but over the last few months that doesn't work anymore because this sun doesn't show up in google's search results on the page 1. Now I have to type "conspiracy reddit sub" to get it to show up on the first page.
1 SomeoneLikeYouToo 2018-05-18
They're either manipulating the results, or the algorithm is just broken.
Whether I search "reddit conspiracy" or flip it around to "conspiracy reddit" I see that FinlandConspiracy sub as the #1 result... despite the fact that /r/Conspiracy is roughly 90 times more popular right now (based on the number of users online).
1 BigPharmaSucks 2018-05-18
Searx.me is a good alternative as well
