Why is money even a thing?

Ss:
I’m not too great at articulating my points sometimes, so forgive me if this sounds dumb lmao.
Why do we all need to work pointless jobs 40-80 hours a week just to survive? Like why is that the way it is and why does nearly everyone seem to be okay with it?
Like why do we need man-made money to fix our roads, or build a house, or grow food? Did we not do these things before we all decided we were going to dedicate 50% of our life to working jobs that make us miserable?
Why can’t we live in a system where people can do what makes them happy? Why is everything always about money and making more of it?
Whenever I try bringing this up, people just either get irritable or accuse me of being a “commie” or a moron. I think they’ve been conditioned to think this way but idk.
Thoughts?

Money is the created for equality when you think about it. Without money, the powerful people will take everything from the weak without any repercussions. Abuse of power and influence will take over, and those with most power will rule over all. Oh wait, that’s what’s happening right now...

Does money exist to facilitate building the roads, or do roads exist to carry the money?
Money is supposed to help facilitate everyday transactions, but it's been changed into the "end goal" of economic activity.
Add to that the unpayable debt attached to money creation, and who receives all of these debt payments... We have the worst possible situation of the tail wagging the dog, on the planet.

I’ve tried to work this out in my head, too.
It’s a lesson in futility.

Because the population grew beyond a sustainable bartering system

technology has made it possible to do this now, without money. all you'd need is the idea of a "group contract", where some collective end goal is defined and each individual contribution/reward to that end goal is also defined. voila, no more money.

BARTER NEVER FUCKING HAPPENED
It was economies of debt, and money was initially a functional physical representation of debt, and then it grew into the fucking bloated monster it is today that controls all of our lives.

Yes, just listened to an episode about this on the podcast Ashes Ashes.

I for one would love a resource based society. It would allow me complete freedom in my career, without the constant worry of finding new work.
Unfortunately, unless the vast majority are of the same work ethic, it would fall apart under petty jealousies.

Money exists because long ago a guy had a cow but he wanted a goat. His neighbor had a pig and wanted a cow. The guy with the goat wanted the pig. Since they could not figure this mess out the guy with the extra cow took a few bushels of grain instead of a goat. But then the guy with the goat decided he too would take some grain for his goat. This work for a long time until there was a grain shortage. So instead of commodities they started using things like teeth and then eventually silver and gold. When the world economy expanded faster than the gold supply expanded Fiat money was created.

That's not the way it happened.

That's an exact retelling.

We don't need money. It is a useful way to enslave people.

I was in the midst of explaining how money is a storage device which soaks up blood, sweat, and tears from your endless toil and transforms it into a tangible form to be easily gathered uo by others....
Then I realized that it is far more thoroughly and entertainingly explained in this episode of Rick and Morty.

As others have pointed out, money can be explained and somewhat justified. Interest on the other hand ... now that's evil shit.

Sound question. If you really want to give up all this great modern-day slavery, think about moving to a place that doesn't typically have outside access to the rest of the world. Isolated places exist in Mexico and below, Africa, and Asia. These places and people are beholden to a simple life. They eat off the land, and prefer emotional bonds over material things. The system you speak of exists, but not in really in "First World" countries.

The current monetary system≠money

Agreed. Money today is treated more like a commodity than a tool of trade.

Money is a social construct, and over the years many different things have served as "money". When Civilization, and the process leading up to it, first began, it was based on the exchange of property, gifts, and social capital. The original idea behind money as we understand it was to find something, such as precious metals, that a majority of people valued. Then use that as a common bartering tool instead of the specific good or service.
The rest of the system, its attendant benefits and drawbacks, grew from there.

I too am mad about Kylie Jenner becoming the youngest "Self-made" billionaire. Ugghh

To be serious, we were doomed the moment we valued things. That being said, a monarch like system was bound to happen- where those that are held the most responsible attain the most from society. That was all fine and all until eventually those attained valuables were passed on down from generation to generation, tipping the scale to the point of toppling over, which we see now. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Funny thing is the quality of life is getting better, increasing the population- perhaps to pump out more "slaves". So don't believe what you hear when people tell you to quit your job and chase your dreams because if everyone were to do that, then who would be around to make phones, automobiles etc etc. It's all a trap.

Fuck all the rich money hording cunts. Fucking oxygen thief’s.

Money is barter. You barter your time and skill for money. Risk is capitalism. You risk money for more money than your individual time and skill are worth. Everyone can make the choice to do so. Some value less risk and are employees. Shrug.

Money is actually a unit of labor at its surface. I.e. how many of these pieces of paper will it take to get you to climb up on that windmill and work as opposed to flipping burgers. But underneath that it is a mechanism for control. Think about this,It has no value other than the value that we give it through "faith" and then they put "in God we trust on it". Currency is the current that gets our energy directed.
1 smileyclown 2018-07-11
Until we change the way money works, we change nothing.
We need to get rid of fractional reserve banking, compound interest and fiat currency.
Any country that has a currency is NOT a free country.
1 sactbrat1 2018-07-11
I feel the exact same way brother, the whole world does I think.
1 Sal6826 2018-07-11
It’s a mechanism of control. They’ve suppressed every free energy/zero-point technology that’s been created in the past century because they know it will collapse their system. People are brainwashed into believing that the monetary system is the only way, they have come to love the chains that bind them.

Vie been out of work for awhile now and its pretty miserable too. If I had money it might not be, but I don't.

How many part-time farmers does it take to put people into space?
If everyone grows their own food and builds their own homes, nobody will be able to specialise into specific tasks. Specialisation increases efficiency exponentially.
If I have a specialty you don’t have, why should I give you my labour for free?
Then we begin bartering but it’s not exactly easy to bring slabs of meat to trade in markets so we get something to represent value (aka money)
