Can everyone complaining about getting served Facebook ads after speaking aloud just delete their accounts?
1 2018-07-18 by ELI5_Interpolation
It's like seeing a friend complain about then return to an abusive relationship. Just delete your Facebook account already, wtf?

No, it's much easier to complain about Facebook than to actually delete Facebook. Also, there is the possibility that
the deep statebiderbergsglobalistsbenghaziblacklivesmatterbill and melinda gates foundationIsraelHillary's email server~~ Soros wants us to delete our Facebook account so a new social media site can be used to enslave us all.1 bluetoothbraintumor 2018-07-18
They’re dumb fucks..

How else will you be able to demonstrate dissent from your racist family members or show the public (internet) how much you disagree with elected officials? /s[!]

I cannot hold a business account on Facebook (which is sadly critical to what I do) without a personal account. If I delete my Facebook, my business page goes down

fake name & totally empty - personal account. problem solved.
1 _jukmifgguggh 2018-07-18
Good point. I could create the fake account, transfer ownership to it, then delete my personal. So simple I can't believe I didn't think of that! Thanks stranger
1 lrkr526 2018-07-18
It’s still going to listen to you though. Don’t keep the app on your phone.
1 _jukmifgguggh 2018-07-18
I mean, Google does it regardless. I just don't want a Facebook for a number of reasons.
1 dmacrolenses 2018-07-18
Can everyone complaining about this sub-reddit being full of spam just delete their account already instead of filling it with more spam?

Complaining actually voices your concerns. If nobody complained, plenty folks would be oblivious
1 b8ta 2018-07-18
If anyone is oblivious as this point they are willfully so. Many folks simply prefer the safety of seeing just the curtain when they look out their window, rather than see the reality of the their world.
1 theawesomethatis 2018-07-18
Same reason the contrail people won't use air filters or the flouride people won't use water filters.
Complaints and sympathy are the goal. Not solutions to their imagined problem.
1 bridgeheadprod 2018-07-18
Does water filter work on fluoride?
1 FORKinmyDICK 2018-07-18
It's a crazy amount of work and money for the average person to do, and would only be possible if you owned your own house really if I remember correctly. Not really the fairest example.
1 theawesomethatis 2018-07-18
A dedicated RO faucet is only $250. And fits under the sink.
Either permenantly installed or just tapped in and easy to remove.
1 Hagriss 2018-07-18
Thanks for the info. I will look into one of these when I eventually get my own house.
1 popsathome 2018-07-18
yes they do, I'm going to check out a RO faucet
1 theawesomethatis 2018-07-18
I've had 15 in my lifetime. And zero since i put in the RO system.
I try to drink 1.5 - 3 liters a day of it.
Its just kind of a pain in the ass 2x a year to drain/sanitize/replace filters.
Still well worth it imo.
1 popsathome 2018-07-18
thanks kindly
1 blokereport 2018-07-18
Where do I get this in the UK......
1 theawesomethatis 2018-07-18
I have no idea what sort of hardware/home improvement stores you have available over there.
Here we can get the smaller ones from homedepot or lowes.
Or goto a various water companys that sell filters and filtered water. bottled water delivery companys as well.
Or even order online from various companys all the way to amazon or aliexpress.
You could do the last ones for sure.
Dunno about any of the others tho.
I've always had the impression the UK isn't a big do it yourself type place?
1 blokereport 2018-07-18
Was hoping that instead of being rude you'd provide a link for the product or even provide a product name and/or product code.
Nevermind, I don't want your reccomendations anyway you poor citizen. Enjoy your country downfall. Thanks for no help what so ever.
1 blokereport 2018-07-18
We love diy. Whats the brand name of the product?
1 theawesomethatis 2018-07-18
Mine was made by GE.
1 theawesomethatis 2018-07-18
Yes. From large regular filters to an entire reverse osmosis sytem.

Delete Facebook
1 clark116 2018-07-18
The trouble is that it's not Facebook. It's Siri & Alexa. Zuck didn't lie, he's just not telling the whole truth. FB gets the data from Siri. Apple is the one processing it for metadata.
1 QuilliamShakespeare 2018-07-18
What if you don't have apple products? It happens to people without Siri too
1 clark116 2018-07-18
Yup! That would be Apple's Android sister: Alexa
1 clark116 2018-07-18
So Amazon would be the one processing it
1 panamaRed59 2018-07-18
Settings > Apps > App Permissions > Microphone > turn everything off that isn't absolutely necessary. Also location and camera permissions. I have them all turned off by default, and go to turn them on only for the time I need it.
1 wicky- 2018-07-18
I'm just curious...have there been Wireshark tests to prove that none of the mic/video data is being transmitted with those options turned off? It seems to me, if they're going to go through the trouble of mass collecting data, they'd give us fake little buttons to ease our concerned minds.

You can't delete your account, but we can delete the apps and stop visiting the website.
1 popsathome 2018-07-18
How do I delete google assistant, I can't even find it?
1 Mcmuphin 2018-07-18
You can delete your account, they just don't make it easy to find. Google how to permanently delete Facebook
1 ELI5_Interpolation 2018-07-18
Nice try Zuck. Account deletion instructions here.
1 Smanked 2018-07-18
The account will always be there still. Waiting for the sheep to return.
1 ELI5_Interpolation 2018-07-18
No it won't, it's deleted after 14 days. The shadow account that they create for you and attempt to populate with data they believe to be correlated to you, however.. Obviously not the same as you uploading your GPS data, photos and private messages.
1 Smanked 2018-07-18
After the 14 days if you type in the same email and pw it will come back like you never deleted it
1 ELI5_Interpolation 2018-07-18
I literally just tried, no it won't.
1 Smanked 2018-07-18
Worked for both my boy and my girl. My buddy went like 4 months and just typed in the same info. Aslong as its the same email
1 ELI5_Interpolation 2018-07-18
No, then they deactivated. Click the link above, it's an entirely different process.
1 Smanked 2018-07-18
Oh shit really? I had one back in the day but its been years. Will have to show them
1 ELI5_Interpolation 2018-07-18
Yea read the link, its practically impossible to get to the section to actually delete without having a direct link (given in the article).
1 themadhat1 2018-07-18
thats why you create seperate email accounts for each one...twitter, facebook and reddit. and whatever else. and only use those accounts for that specific social media. if your email is getting spammed stop ascociating it to social media. they are all looking at your email data and searches.
1 themadhat1 2018-07-18
its built in in my android 7 but you can disable it. as soon as i did all the adds stopped. i personally think its face book that is listening all the time.
1 _nathanielc 2018-07-18
I can understand people being annoyed, but also what’s the worst that can really happen from it? It creeps me out a bit when I notice it, but it’s not like a surprise, and there’s no real consequence? We’re probably being monitored at all times anyway
1 the_boss_sauce 2018-07-18
That's the spirit!
1 facereplacer3 2018-07-18
I do think there is value in exposing it. Zuckerberg explicitly said to congress that FB doesn't listen or have the tech to use voice for these purposes. That means at least a couple things. Zuck lied (easy), congress knows and is complicit, or congress is satisfied with the lie and there's literally no reason for us to trust them (I believe the latter and former can be true at the same time).
I love these stories. Happens all the time and I just think of this clip.
1 LordPotsmoke 2018-07-18
How come this is being talked about so much lately? It's nothing new.
Btw I have made a video on surveillance if you are interested.

Don't install Facebook on your phone, use adblocking software. Problem solved.
1 ItsMikeUh 2018-07-18
But facebook market place...
1 Dekodev 2018-07-18
Dont have facebook or a smartphone, still being served ads based on conversations
1 6out 2018-07-18
Then from where?
1 FeastForCows 2018-07-18
Printed on paper and delivered in person.
1 Dekodev 2018-07-18
Through other peoples phones, served to me on youtube. Creepy how they tie my voice to my account though
1 secureartisan 2018-07-18
Remember that time when everyone reported accelerator pedals on their cars were getting stuck?
Yeah...
1 Hagriss 2018-07-18
It’s not just Facebook that does this. I deleted mine around 6 months ago, still get these types of ads on pandora/Spotify.
1 UnmoderatedCaucus 2018-07-18
If we delete Facebook and stop complaining, how will Facebook ever hear that we have complaints?
1 fayoK 2018-07-18
I can't delete the app from my phone
1 _jukmifgguggh 2018-07-18
Did it come pre-installed on your phone?
1 fayoK 2018-07-18
Yep
1 arnkk 2018-07-18
delete your entire phone
1 _jukmifgguggh 2018-07-18
That solves this case. Next!
1 _jukmifgguggh 2018-07-18
Can I ask what phone it is?
1 fayoK 2018-07-18
Sony
1 AccountAttempt2 2018-07-18
Start using a flip phone then. Is the minor benefits to a smart phone really worth giving up all your privacy and information to soulless corporations, the government, and anyone else who decides to listen in?
1 SnipeGSMC 2018-07-18
Facebook is only the latest to get caught with their hand in the cookie jar, everything you get for "free" is being paid for somehow, most of it is from sales of your data. Windows operating system, that $500 drawing you entered, even that online petition you signed to make your voice heard to the FCC they are all collecting and selling your data. The disparaging part is the amount of data being collected and who is getting access to it. Take a look at the usage logs of your modem, it's amazing the amount of data that transfers when your electronics are supposed to be asleep. These programs all serve a purpose, it's up to the user to decide if the, not really free, price is worth the purpose of that app. Terms Of Service need to be less ambiguous and easier to read.

Think of Facebook as a tool. We can use

I need a thing to complain about, why would I do that?
1 two_stwond 2018-07-18
Dont have a FB account. It happens to me on instagram, yet instas TOS and other documents claim they don't listen to you through the mic. This must be exposed
1 cojoco 2018-07-18
This has happened to me and we don't even use facebook in here.

1 Cobra-Serpentress 2018-07-18
People like facebook because we don't write letters anymore. Facebook claims to be free, but they have to pay bills and advertisements pay those bills. It is the part of the system. Either deal with it or quit.
I hear what you are saying. "I want my friends to stop bitching so much."
1 grislyaddams 2018-07-18
I believe that "Facebook" listening to people works like jury duty. It's a rotating algorithm. It turns on, here and there, sporadically. ( I put Facebook in quotes because it could easily be an Amazon or Google exploit.)
For some people it never turns on, or when it does, it has nothing to report and rotates to the next person. This is why there are two sides of the belief coin on this.
"Didn't happen to me, can't be real" "Just happened to me, totally real"
It did happen to me, but it didn't happen when I was trying to make it happen after that. I found that curious.
As an aside, you can see who has your information.
The day I quit Facebook my email inbox exploded with spam. Over 100 unique companies that I have never had dealings with.
And the phone calls started.
I had Facebook because of a business I had started, so my phone number was attached.
It was, more or less, fine while I had FB.
The day I quit I started getting calls about student loans and other shit. I've never had a student loan.
Those, I told enough of them to fuck off, apparently, that they sold my number. Now it has shifted to most of the calls being a robot offering me a job.
They spoof numbers, by the way. I pick up because it's a number in my area code.
