Reddit has been completely compromised.

Votes are executed through either botnets or server admins. The truth is being buried.

Off to more fertile lands, not owned by media conglomerates. Enjoy your shithole - I advise you to leave soon.

There seems to be a lot of disinfo spreaders and trolls that get hundreds of upvotes in a matter of seconds, especially regarding 9-11 or Israel. I don't think Conde Nast wants anything to do with 911 truthers since it adheres to the official story whenever it's mentioned in its magazines. They are afraid of losing advertisers or subscribers and want to maintain a poltically correct image. I would expect comments and posts to start disappearing.

Yep.

Yes, and having a website of integrity and intelligence would attract no eyeballs at all.

... or would it?

This is the best I got, Conde-Nast or no Conde-Nast. I've read all the Alex Jones blogs--his comments writers on main issues are generally morons with a sprinkling of esotericists. You could say the same thing's here, but I'd argue it's a better lot. Maybe a better lot on a sinking ship, but still a better lot. When it finally sinks I'll swim to...wherever. Don't know just yet.

Tell us where to flee Oh Great and Wise Moses so that we might follow you to the promised land.

The truly anonymous internet.

digg.com?

i'd sooner take a long walk off a short pier...

i can't even say the name of that site without barfing...

peace...

That's happened to me several times as well. For posts people couldn't regard as "anti-semitic," no less.

The canned response is the anti-spam is killing off your posts. I don't believe that, though, and have (in other subreddits) found posts blacklisted by moderators. Log out and then if your posts suddenly vanish then you're being blacklisted. Oh, but again you're supposed to think that it is the anti-spam filter. Yes, the same anti-spam filter that has had the same exact "bug" for the last three years and mysteriously never seems to be fixed. Wonder why...

Yep, this is true

I've seen entire subreddits blacklisted.

No, it really is reddit's crappy anti-spam filter in action. I've had many posts to this subreddit simply vanish, and mine are invariably anti-conspiracy-theory.

But does the spam filter also hide posts which have already been voted on? I've seen my comments (under different account with higher karma) being upvoted and then suddenly poof they're gone. Would a spam filter do that?

looks like its been spotted. :( sorry to see this, but I think I may go elsewhere too.

texmex, it says "3 up votes 0 down votes" as of now. How could it ever have been at 0? Or drumroll did reddit detect botnet activity and annulled the votes?

It's now up to 5 up, 0 down. Yesterday, the story had at least 20 up votes.

I have no idea what's going on but it doesn't look like a technical glitch to me :(

This happens to many many posts regardless of content. I think there are some people out there who simply downvote every post besides their own. It's just how Reddit is.

[deleted]

Well, something may be rotten, in that Reddit has glitches like this all the time, but it has nothing to do with the content of the posts.

[deleted]

never seen glitches with these kinds of side effects.

Lurk moar. They happen.

Give me a fucking break. You guys are such drama queens.

That's not what it is.

Yeah it is. Do you think you are doing us all a favor? That you or opening our eyes to something we have previously been blind to? If you are going to leave, just do it. No one cares that you are trying to snatch attention on the internet.

Well I hate to speculate, but I've come to the conclusion that many of these alt reddits are owned by one of the larger conspiracy communities on the net (as in their moderators are the same ones running these reddits) Observe your reddit submissions carefully because if they are a competitor to that site it just goes into a black hole. In fact our own alt news site has nearly given up on submitting interesting content to /conspiracy & /ufo. Sometimes we'll use a url shortening tool to make it through but with everything compromised it's hard to maintain interest. Thanks for bringing this to light.

Consider this. I'm probably a person you consider disinfo troll. The same thing happens to my submissions. Most of them don't even show up. Or are instantly downvoted. Seems to go against the prevalent theories here.

This is really going to bug you. I once noticed that every time someone down-voted a rather inflammatory comment I made, my Karma score went up. Darndest Thing.

I've had this problem too

Reddit sucks. Cheers

Please post more fertile lands, I'm curious.

While the idea that Reddit is compromised sounds right, I think that the mass downvoting comes from the community itself, it seems that most people here think we're just a collection of psychotic trolls and that the government is to be trusted no matter what.

Am I getting through to you, ghibmmm? You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM, and ITT, and AT&T, and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon. Those *are* the nations of the world today. What do you think the Russians talk about in their councils of state, Karl Marx? They get out their linear programming charts, statistical decision theories, minimax solutions, and compute the price-cost probabilities of their transactions and investments, just like we do.

We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr. ghibmmm. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable bylaws of business. The world is a business, Mr. ghibmmm. It has been since man crawled out of the slime. And our children will live, ghibmmm, to see that . . . perfect world . . . in which there's no war or famine, oppression or brutality. One vast and ecumenical holding company, for whom all men will work to serve a common profit, in which all men will hold a share of stock. All necessities provided, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused. And I have chosen you, ghibmmm, to preach this evangel.

wonderful homage to Network!...where's the applause button?...

peace...

I was about to say "isn't that from Network?" I can see docsavage beat me to it, though.

I didn't say anything about democracy - I think "democracy" is a crock of shit.

Jesus christ. The conspiracy sub is full of a bunch of ignorant twats. The immediate upvote/downvote is a well documented issue that occurs to comments and submissions all over reddit. I have on multiple occasions seen my comments downvoted in milliseconds, only to have it regulate itself in a very short manner. BTW, sometimes the servers don't all synchronize at once, and you will get false readings on the votes of submission. But that is probably the evil corporate overlords suppressing your freedom of speech, and keeping the truth out.

I subscribed to this reddit to see some interesting conversation, but it is a hilarious Alex Jones circle-jerk, where every day something terrible is being plotted upon the people, and the end is nigh.

You guys leave me in stitches.

As anybody with an iota of curiosity about this issue would already know, reddit reports comment points with a random "fudge factor", to confuse people attempting to reverse engineer Reddit's existing botnet filters.

It doesn't affect your total karma, it's just an instantaneous effect.

No need for such a "feature."

Why do you say that?

This is not a conspiracy theory; it's a fact attested by Reddit, in various help threads over time.

I doubt Reddit would be implementing features for which there was no need.

Are you telling me, or telling yourself?

looks like its been spotted. :( sorry to see this, but I think I may go elsewhere too.
