For having 36,776 readers, /conspiracy seems surprisingly inactive.

Not really going for much here other than it would be great if more people contributed/commented. That is all.

The true conspiracy folks understand how dangerous it is to contribute.
4 dgtlhrt 2011-08-04
I will admit, when I'm heavily into it some days it does cross my mind...... gasp......Oh no they'll be able to track me! But then I remember how they already can track me via countless other methods. I'd be curious to see how many of us truly believe our name is on a watch list somewhere.

You can F.O.I.A. your FBI file. It costs a small handling fee but it is possible to check out.
12 lovethebomb 2011-08-04
Sure, and once you request an FOIA on your file, they create a super secret file. Not falling for it buddy.
3 tatonkadonk 2011-08-04
lol, nice.
1 PandaK00sh 2011-08-04
Does everyone have a file? If not, what happens when you request it and you don't have one?
6 tatonkadonk 2011-08-04
I would suspect that would become the first page in your newly formed file.
1 PandaK00sh 2011-08-04
My thoughts exactly.
3 [deleted] 2011-08-04
What do you think? Making a request for your file means they totally should have had one on you all along....
1 PandaK00sh 2011-08-04
Those are my thoughts too. If I made a request, would that raise suspicion? I honestly just wanna see it to laugh at it (I'm a pretty normal, good dude), but I don't want red flags going off cause some random guy FOIAs his FBI files.

I agree reddit is used to mine comments, as well as everything you said. However, I think it's a necessary risk. If you believe in it enough, at this point, you should be willing to state it. What else are we going to do?

I'm sure you're more able than most. Thanks for the thought.

Understood.

Too many bots vote you down if you comment.
11 fuser-invent 2011-08-04
If by bots you mean people who hate anything that deviates from what they believe is going on, then yes, too many bots vote you down. You get an upvote.

Oops. Didn't notice, next time I'll make sure to spell it right.

That's just what they want you to think. You need to get over to /r/

I've noticed that. Thirty-six thousand readers, and many threads have only one or two posts.
6 digger_ex_pat 2011-08-04
Move along, citizen. Nothing to see here.
6 registerin60secs 2011-08-04
subscribers create a reddit account, subscribe, then forget about the account. i've done this myself before.
the sidebar stats for most reddits are highly inflated.
3 dgtlhrt 2011-08-04
Even if there were only 5000, I would expect to see much more activity, especially considering the topics.
6 cgeezy22 2011-08-04
I think most are here to read not contribute.
6 cgeezy22 2011-08-04
Because we are all just here to see IamJulianneAssange's posts everyday but he has forsaken us.
9 ImJulianAssange 2011-08-04
I did not forsake anyone.
My IamJulianAssange account was deleted without warning or explanation.
My new account ImJulianAssange was heavily restricted and deleted for more than two weeks.
After laying low I am imposing a voluntary self-restriction of no more than 50% of content.
Thank you for saying "we are all here just to see [my] posts". However, I think it is more true to say we are here to find out what the hell is going on.
3 cgeezy22 2011-08-04
Well you took some flack from people in this section, for what I still don't know.
All I'm saying is that you brought some good material to this section. Your posts made this a damn good aggregate in my opinion. Like everything else, I filtered through the "hmmm" and the "shit" material but regardless of that your contribution to this sub reddit was great.
To you last point, I indeed am here to figure out whats going on. I will take any news from independent sources over Fox, CNN or the like any day. We are all capable of processing information on our own and don't need others to dictate what is news worthy like the above mentioned do.
Thanks again.
3 dgtlhrt 2011-08-04
A little earlier, I almost editted the post to specifically thank ImJulianAssange for such dedication to posting. haha.
9 ImJulianAssange 2011-08-04
Thank you very much.
I am very concerned about what is happening in the world.
I use the internet to find out.
When I find something that interests me I share it (sometimes even when I have an opinion that is diametrically opposed).
Most of us got a free education through high school.
It cost us nothing and we got what we paid for.
The government also got what it paid for.
Now we are awakening to a brave new world.
5 youcraneyan 2011-08-04
I've noticed this too, it's also interesting to see what stories get systematically downvoted
3 dgtlhrt 2011-08-04
Yes, it's interesting to see which conspiracies people feel can have some validity to them, and which ones they feel are just outlandish.
5 Sin25 2011-08-04
Alot of people like to keep informed of whats happening especially different points of view. Conspiracy is a good place to find stories/information that is generally not publicised. And with anything, you have your ones who voice loudly, but many more behind who watch and wait.
4 dgtlhrt 2011-08-04
Well I'm letting those who are watching and waiting know that their voice is wanted here. I WAN†YOUR VOICE
5 killzy707 2011-08-04
Checking in. Fuck it if they track us, like the op said they already track our phones so fuck it. /r/conspiracy let's be more active!
4 [deleted] 2011-08-04
Too many hits at the fusion center, gotta lay low.
4 JSIN33 2011-08-04
I have wondered about that but I assumed that most people don't vote.
3 dgtlhrt 2011-08-04
I can see most people not voting. However, I'd like to see more conversation on some of these posts. The more active, the better.
4 Uncerntropy 2011-08-04
Hey, as bad as r/conspiracy might seem sometimes, just visit r/politics, you'll be back here in a second.

Tesla is alive and well and living on the moon.
3 mrnothere 2011-08-04
I was actually coming here to make a self post on this exact topic. I think the fear of publicly advocating things that judges, bosses, wives might consider crazy. I think the anti-zionist material that appears in here (less frequently now, i think) is a big turn-off for a lot of like-minded people.
3 dgtlhrt 2011-08-04
It'd be beneficial to have a broader base of active contributors for many reasons. We don't want only a few minds actually putting up all the posts/ideas/comments, because then it can do more bad than good, as it could taint the ideas in itself as well as the way people view r/conspiracy as a whole.
3 buster2 2011-08-04
36,000 are alt accounts for government agent-provacateurs
3 bumblingmumbling 2011-08-04
There is censorship on r/conspiracy. Why submit when you know it won't show up?
2 destraht 2011-08-04
I know a bunch of people personally that never author digital content, except for inane personal correspondence or necessary business/bureaucratic purposes. Everyone has their own reasons but I notice that people are quite afraid of putting content out there. They don't know how the spook correlation algorithms work and so they just think that only consuming information is the safe way to go. Also of all of the people that I know only two of them who use any sort of cookie or tracking protection and even what they are using is very incomplete at best. So its safe to say that they are being tracked like a wounded animal and they don't even know it. I'd say its a frightened [edit] and ignorant culture alright.
One time I was speaking to a Chinese girlfriend over Skype and she clammed up. She told me that she was afraid the government was listening. The Western citizens are even more fucked than that because they won't admit that is how they feel.
[edit] This all reminds me throwing parties and every guy wants to know what girls will be showing up. Of course nobody wants to bring their own girlfriends. This all requires intention and participation. From what I can see its alienated as fuck. All of it. Fuck every person out there skimming the cream while curled up like a scared bitch.
1 dgtlhrt 2011-08-04
Amazing.
And yes, I know a lot of Asian girls who have tape or stickers covering the cameras on their laptops for fear of being watched through it.
I like the cut of your jib. Great thoughts.

I get around and I see shit. Eastern Europe is very soon next. I live places and not just passing through.
2 [deleted] 2011-08-04
Because no new conspiracies are bigger than 9-11, and everyone I talk to has been trained to condescend the prospect of thinking rationally about it.
Who cares what else happens. If the powers that be can get away with that, what's the point.

I read /conspiracy because every so often, I will see an echo of what is reported there in foreign media.
-1 anthony256 2011-08-04
Posting in /r/conspiracy is like posting in religion... unless you're talking about something others 100% agree on, or they 100% understand, you'll get downvoted or abused.
Things like 9/11, Moon Landing, JFK, etc, etc - discuss those and you get asked for "proof", it's fucking /r/conspiracy you dickheads, there is no proof.
3 [deleted] 2011-08-04
I disagree, just because you have something that's being labeled as a conspiracy that doesn't instantly mean theres no proof. The basis of a conspiracy is proof that contradicts the "official" story.
-11 Sheeple1 2011-08-04
I just like visiting to see what crazy shit you paranoid nutjobs are propagating today.

In all fairness that's probably why a lot people come here. It is for me anyway. Conspiritard has 1700 and I'd say all of them are readers here too.
