/r/occupywallstreet/ changes its goals and will no longer allow it to be used "as a progressive news dump."

When I objected to their blocking a Chris Hedges article they said: We're trying to tighten up the sub and stop people from using it as a progressive news dump.

Since Occupy is not really active right now they are basically killing the subreddit.

Most of the Occupy mods, if you look at their histories, don't show much interest in politics or protests. They just wanted to control the manifestation of Occupy on reddit and they did.

Gaining Full Control

It is important to also be harvesting and continually maneuvering for a forum moderator position. Once this position is obtained, the forum can then be effectively and quietly controlled by deleting unfavorable postings - and one can eventually steer the forum into complete failure and lack of interest by the general public. This is the 'ultimate victory' as the forum is no longer participated with by the general public and no longer useful in maintaining their freedoms. Depending on the level of control you can obtain, you can deliberately steer a forum into defeat by censoring postings, deleting memberships, flooding, and or accidentally taking the forum offline. By this method the forum can be quickly killed.

However it is not always in the interest to kill a forum as it can be converted into a 'honey pot' gathering center to collect and misdirect newcomers and from this point be completely used for your control for your agenda purposes. http://encyclopediadramatica.se/Forum_COINTELPRO_Techniques

But I guess it's just part of how the feds destroyed Occupy.

Here is someone else they ran off.

Jart, Occupy Mod: The bannings will continue, until morale improves.

It's very sad. But that is the problem with the internet. We can't expect those in power not to disrupt any people's movement when we have to organize and communicate openly.

Full disclosure: They just banned me for arguing with them. Which no other subreddit has done but /r/mensrights.

Damn. That explains a lot.

yeah wtf i just got banned at random. this is crazy.

There needs to be a real subreddit for Occupy.

The message police tactics all look the same these days.

Can't allow Americans to realize there is any room to the left of Obama... because we would then realize that 70% of us actually fit there.

Some time ago, I mentioned on that subreddit that they're going to be targeted because they had over 10K subscribers and articles critical of Obama making their front page. And the terrorists did their thing.

mods are killing reddit

I don't know if it's mods or admins or outside interests who have organized voting cabals and set up bots. Remember HRGary and COINTEL_Pro. There are private and governmental interests (and not just the US government) who have reason to try to control a site as big as reddit, especially one that gives people information that the plutocracy doesn't want them to have. I think they are now taking an interest in reddit and moving to control what most people see.
